Question for the board…
I donated blood today and they mentioned doing a “double red” donation instead of whole blood. It takes longer on the day-of, but I don’t have to come in for another 16 weeks (vs 8 weeks with whole blood). Anyone here gone this route?

I don’t remember what I did when I donated but I was just out of the green. Haven’t been back in 6 months and was still in the green when I got my bloodwork done last week.

Question for the board, but mostly just looking for advice
Have done two rounds of bloodwork now and gotten results of 177 and 268 at 38 years old. I have a follow up with urologist on Thursday to discuss options. Have lots of symptoms that I’ve chalked up to getting older but it appears I do actually have low T.
What should I expect and any good questions I need to ask?

How often are they running your bloodwork, is it covered by your insurance, how can I manage estrogen spikes, do they offer B12 injections as well?

I received the results of my 12 week blood work.
Total T - 1309 ng/dL
Free T - 192 pg/mL
E2 - 58 pg/mL
SHBG - 40 nmol/dL
Albumin - 4.4 g/dL
Hematocrit - 52.3%
Should I be worried about the hematocrit number?
The E2 number is technically high, but I don't have any sides other than some water retention.

Your Free and Total T look outstanding!
Just donate blood, my clinic will do it for me or I use Gulf Coast Blood Center.
What are you taking to bring it down?

No, that isn't terribly high.
If you don't have any sides besides some retention I would not worry about it and definitely would not take any blockers for a 58pg/ml.

My doctor wants to put me on androgel and then come back in a few weeks.
I’ve not heard of the gel. Any objections / advice?

Find a doctor that isn't shitty and knows about TRT protocol.
I have no idea what your total test and free test numbers are, but what he should've done is start you on about 150 mg per week of test C, injected at the minimum of twice per week. I'd recommend an every other day injection, but if that's too much for you, twice a week is a good start.

I was referred to this urologist by my GP, and I think the gel vs injections is an insurance thing.
The gel would be 2 pumps daily.

Not a fan of the gel. Be careful not to physically contact your children or wife for awhile after, it could transfer to them.

This is one of the big concerns I have. The gel seems both convenient and inconvenient at the same time. I avoid needles but have to worry about transferring it to my son or wife.
