keep in mind it effects everyone different
also everyone should understand that high hematocrit and iron levels doesnt mean you need to run out and donate. If that was the case, every male in high elevations would need to. Im pretty sure every male in Denver isnt donating, is falling over from a stroke and I would bet 85% of them have levels at the top of the range or just above range.

. Donating often actually causes your body to rebound so you end up higher than you were before.
I was a blood donor before TRT, so maybe that is why mine tends to run highish then. I physically feel better after a donation, but I also usually go 3-4 months between and not every 8 weeks.

I didn't either the first year or so of being on TRT but lately I have been trying to get in every 8 weeks since my donations are fast and the points pile up fast.
My current issue is that I am battling SHBG for my free test levels, recent results came back as
Total T - 1161
Free T- 21.1
SHBG - 55.54
Supplements:
Boron - 10mg
Magnesium Glycinate - 275 mg
Zinc 2mg
Stinging Nettle - 375 mg
Three weeks prior to the test I gave up alcohol and plan to keep it eliminated from my diet for at least another 8 weeks at the minimum.

I've never donated blood purely due to TRT and my hematocrit runs a tad high BUT I also live at high elevation which can raise hematocrit and RBC levels; additionally being even the least bit dehydrated can bump your hematocrit

What’s the plan to get the SHBG down and Free T up?
Is the alcohol consumption a contributing factor? Thanks

Some will not agree, but the easiest way to increase free T, is take more T. My My free T was always shite

Thanks. I’m not on TRT, but have had my numbers tested and total T was okay at around 650 but SHBG was high and free T was low. I’m thinking it’s time for TRT at 58 years old. Thinking about one of the internet based services. Thoughts?

I think they’ll get the job done but way cheaper if your PCP would do it for you. But they can definitely get you started.

I will have more labs drawn in 6 weeks but this is my plan:
No alcohol
regimented sleep schedule
keep tracking macros and eating clean
no dropoffs in training
keep supplements steady
I've read that SHBG doesn't fully stabilize for a heavy drinker until about 10-12 weeks which would sort of explain why they didn't dip after my 3-week break

Okay. I’m interested in the results. How many mg of T do you take?

That’s not a replacement therapy dose, that’s damn near a blast cycle

Talking with a couple of other people at the gym and they said the same thing. Looking into a different provider and possibly doing everything myself.

Okay. Well I’m definitely curious to see how to get that SHBG number down then. I don’t think more T is gonna be the answer in your case.

More T will not lower his SHBG but I can assure you it’ll fix his low Free T
To get my free T at 25-30, my total needs to be 1200+.
I dialed back just to see and with a Total of 800, my free was 12.
