Mid 40s male who’s been working out and running since high school

Just the last year or two I haven’t changed anything but noticed I started getting dark red rubbing burns just on one side of the penis just below the head and on the edge of the head

I went to my doctor and he said it’s not fungal just irritated but it’s been 2 weeks. I’m guessing that it’s not fully healing because it keeps rubbing or something.

You guys ever get this for long distances and what seems to help? I wear compression shorts but AI also told me the pouch underwear might help

It’s frustrating because I’ve been married 20 years and it doesn’t really put you in the mood plus if you do end up doing it it just makes it worse

Pouch compression shorts and Vaseline before runs.

During Ironman Chattanooga I rubbed the head of my penis against a seam in my tri shorts so raw it was bleeding and that was the most painful shower of my entire life.

Do your compression shorts have seams that run along the front like this? If so, that could be the issue.

My go to is the Runderwear Running Boxer Brief for anything over 2 hours in the summer and any races

In the meantime, copious amounts of bacitracin when you're not running and lube the hell out of it woth Vaseline before any run

Get some Body Glide or something similar. Comes in a stick that looks like deodorant, but you rub it on before running. I used to use it on my thighs and butt when I ran a lot when it was hot and humid outside.

Salty britches anti chafing all over potential hot spots before any long runs.

Be seriously careful with Vaseline and burn type wounds. I put Vaseline on a small sun burn on my head and then wore a hat…the Vaseline and compression from the hat caused additional burning that created a huge scab.

I’d go with Boudreaux’s Butt Paste!
