So how about fricking off, thanks.
You’re always so upset, you should try the low T thread

Can someone help me with MacroFactor?
I have it linked to my Garmin activities, but they aren't showing up in the app. I've triple checked and it's definitely data sharing through Health Connect.
Any ideas?
Why bother? MF won't do anything with the data. It calculates TDEE purely off your weight and calories consumed.

Tell me more of this macro factor. I frickin hate counting calories and calculating macros. This sounds exactly like what I need. I’m 183 lbs with a lot of muscle but have had a spare tire around my waist for a long time now. I need to maintain my weight but lose fat (everyone’s pipe dream, I know)
If you hate counting you might not like it. It makes counting easier but you still have to do it.
There's a free trial so give it a try. It was a godsend for me but obviously not for everyone.

Absolutely worth the money. The AI function where you take a picture of the food and it figures the macros is amazing.
Agree it's amazing but I've tested it and it's not usually super accurate. I just use it when I'm in a pinch.

This boggles the imagination.
Now, I'll be the first to admit that "It's complicated" - body chemistry is weird, some folks react differently, so you do have to try different things to find out what works for you, your body adjusts to steady state intake/output, so you have to find a groove and a curve on both of those that works as well, and all that jazz, but all the gimmicks, gadgets, protocols, etc, ALL OF THEM are just tools to get you to a point where you burn more calories than you take in so that you burn the excess fat stores in your body.
ALL...OF...THEM. That's the only way to reduce fat stores. You have to generate a deficit so that your body is forced to deplete the fat stores for energy. How it took you 38 years is probably more of an indictment of our abundance, our marketing system, our food supply and our lifestyle, more than you being *ahem* "not the sharpest tool in the shed", although that last thing cannot be fully discounted.
I got sucked down a rabbit hole of "gurus" who had compelling evidence against CICO. I'm a sucker for conspiracy theories and non-mainstream advice, what can I say.

Thanks for this.
Reviews are solid and not a tech company baby, looks like the founder has a fitness background.
Got the app, 72 bucks I think for a year. I spend more than that at happy hour.

Ahhh gotcha. It just seems like a benefit to also see your daily calories burned to have a true daily deficit number to see.

OP specifically brought up MacroFactor in their post and posted about it. So how about fricking off, thanks.
And you asked for tech support, which I thought would get better responses from a new thread, hence, my suggestion. Chill out, fatty.

I'd also add to make sure to get an adequate amount of fiber, but otherwise yea, just this. Fiber and protein make it much easier to stick to your calorie deficit, which is a main reason to prioritize them (among other obvious ones).
Sleep and water too

But it's not. That's the point. Activity trackers are wildly inaccurate. All you need to calculate your TDEE is weighing yourself daily and tracking your calories.
MF has my TDEE at 2,350, which is the real number according to thermodynamics. My fitbit says I burn like 3,500 cals a day which is BS and a worthless number.

Thanks for the clarification. But then what's the point of it linking to Strava or Garmin? It's pulling data from there.

In my opinion, no point. I wasn't aware they had those integrations. They recently added integrations so your steps show up in MacroFactor. And the point of that is just to see more data in one place. But they absolutely do not factor any exercise into their algorithm. If you burn more calories it will show up in the algorithm.

ou guys got me on the MacroFactor train.
I've been using it for 2 months and I like it. I find the AI scanner to be pretty accurate. My one complaint is that logging meals feels a bit clunky, but that is a minor gripe.

I found this article on the MacroFactor website that explains why they don't use data from wearables.
quote:
So, the basic reason we don’t incorporate data from wearable devices into MacroFactor’s algorithms and recommendations should be obvious at this point: that data is known to be inaccurate, and its reliability is unknown. Furthermore, the magnitude and direction of the errors differ from device to device, and from user to user. We aim to generate nutrition recommendations and adjustments that will help users meet their weight gain, loss, or maintenance goals; based on the current evidence, incorporating low-quality data from wearable devices into our algorithms would run counter to that goal.

Great explanation, thanks. Good info going forward.

The idea has always been simple. Executing it consistently overtime is the problem.

I tell people who want to lose weight that they need to count calories. They often respond with some explanation about how it isn't all about calories. I then roll my eyes and give up.
Posted on 8/14/25 at 8:55 am to G The Tiger Fan
Same here. They always want work out plans or diet plans. First thing I tell them before they even start is track your current calorie intake for a week. If they do that then I help. 95% don't.

I like to integrate with health bc I like to see my step count trend in MacroFactor
