Thanks for the clarification. But then what's the point of it linking to Strava or Garmin? It's pulling data from there.
In my opinion, no point. I wasn't aware they had those integrations. They recently added integrations so your steps show up in MacroFactor. And the point of that is just to see more data in one place. But they absolutely do not factor any exercise into their algorithm. If you burn more calories it will show up in the algorithm.

Ahhh gotcha. It just seems like a benefit to also see your daily calories burned to have a true daily deficit number to see.
But it's not. That's the point. Activity trackers are wildly inaccurate. All you need to calculate your TDEE is weighing yourself daily and tracking your calories.
MF has my TDEE at 2,350, which is the real number according to thermodynamics. My fitbit says I burn like 3,500 cals a day which is BS and a worthless number.

This boggles the imagination.
Now, I'll be the first to admit that "It's complicated" - body chemistry is weird, some folks react differently, so you do have to try different things to find out what works for you, your body adjusts to steady state intake/output, so you have to find a groove and a curve on both of those that works as well, and all that jazz, but all the gimmicks, gadgets, protocols, etc, ALL OF THEM are just tools to get you to a point where you burn more calories than you take in so that you burn the excess fat stores in your body.
ALL...OF...THEM. That's the only way to reduce fat stores. You have to generate a deficit so that your body is forced to deplete the fat stores for energy. How it took you 38 years is probably more of an indictment of our abundance, our marketing system, our food supply and our lifestyle, more than you being *ahem* "not the sharpest tool in the shed", although that last thing cannot be fully discounted.
I got sucked down a rabbit hole of "gurus" who had compelling evidence against CICO. I'm a sucker for conspiracy theories and non-mainstream advice, what can I say.

Absolutely worth the money. The AI function where you take a picture of the food and it figures the macros is amazing.
Agree it's amazing but I've tested it and it's not usually super accurate. I just use it when I'm in a pinch.

Tell me more of this macro factor. I frickin hate counting calories and calculating macros. This sounds exactly like what I need. I’m 183 lbs with a lot of muscle but have had a spare tire around my waist for a long time now. I need to maintain my weight but lose fat (everyone’s pipe dream, I know)
If you hate counting you might not like it. It makes counting easier but you still have to do it.
There's a free trial so give it a try. It was a godsend for me but obviously not for everyone.

Can someone help me with MacroFactor?
I have it linked to my Garmin activities, but they aren't showing up in the app. I've triple checked and it's definitely data sharing through Health Connect.
Any ideas?
Why bother? MF won't do anything with the data. It calculates TDEE purely off your weight and calories consumed.
Losing weight is so EFFING SIMPLE

I'm so dumb.
I've been on the weight loss roller coaster my whole life.
Tried every diet imaginable.
Except for the one that actually works.
I believed all the hype around low carb, keto, insulin being the key.
I rejected calorie counting because I found a few "gurus" who didn't agree with it.
Weirdly I'd hear about people losing weight while still eating carbs and I would just look away. It didn't make sense. They had to be lying.
For 38 years of my life I struggled with my weight and not a single time tried a GD calorie deficit.
Honestly, I don't remember the catalyst for me trying it about 1.5 years ago.
I downloaded the GOAT tracking app - MacroFactor. Sure, others work but it's the only one I know of that really focuses on the thermodynamics things and calculates your TDEE based solely on the body weight and calories you log. If you're trying to lose weight by being in a calorie deficit, MacroFactor is easy mode. You don't have to hope your online TDEE calculator is right, you KNOW your exact TDEE because of science and whatnot.
In the past year and a half I've lost 61 pounds.
I'm in the best shape of my life.
Now I'd say the calorie thing is like 95% of the game. The rest is making sure you get enough protein (I shoot for 200g a day) so you lose fat and not muscle, enough fiber, lift 3x per week, and food quality.
Oh and another benefit of eating high protein and high fiber is you can be in a 500 calorie deficit and not be hungry.
Anyway, I feel dumb because it really is stupid simple. I'm not sure why I ignored so many smart people for so long.
It's crazy the tens of thousands of "diets" that exist.
Track what you eat, KNOW your TDEE, and go on a CALORIE EFFING DEFICIT.
It works. Every. Single. Time.
Here's my progress pics, ya pervert. 180 was my goal but now that I'm here I'm going to lose 10-15 more pounds. 6 pack by my 40th birthday? Why not. I'm not guessing and hoping anymore.

Organic Espresso Beans in Baton Rouge?
Posted by Sweetness on 9/21/23 at 7:42 am
I get some amazing coffee beans shipped from a small company in Colorado. But I'd love to get them local if possible.
I'm picky. Here's what I'm looking for:
- Organic
- Espresso blend
- Whole bean
- Roasted locally
Know if this exists in Baton Rouge?
