I wasnt trying to start a pissing match.
At the end of the day, I'm 37 years old and have lost 20lbs. I dont need six pack abs and I dont need to look like Thomas DeLauer or any of those guys. I feel good, clothes fit well. I'd like to keep it that way and stay disciplined mon-fri and leave a day on the weekend for me.....if I want it. Most weekends, I'd stick to the "eating right" bc it's more than a diet.
I just dont want to drive myself nuts all the time wondering if I have too much avocado that itll be too many carbs for the day. Or if I decide to have a piece of king cake to celebrate a birthday or drink a beer with a friend, that itll blow me out of keto and I have to start all over.
I mean, correct me if I'm wrong but the entire point of keto is to get into ketosis and have your body burn fat instead of carbs....so if I stay high fat, but introduce carbs to the point I'm not in ketosis, then my body won't do what it's supposed to be doing and I be causing more harm than good, no?

I've drunk 13 beers, eaten two pints of Halo Top, two dark chocolate bars and sweet potatoes over the past 48 hours and am still (or back) in ketosis.
There are many ways to increase and use BHB, stay fat adapted and improve apoptosis and autophagy.
I cycle in and out of deeper ketosis quickly, fast, OMAD, lots it aerobic exercise etc etc. Use dextrose for the occasional event that calls for it.
It isn't that big a deal. We have so many carb subs, I never feel like I'm missing anything day to day and then live my life in social situations, travel and such.

The point is, you can be lean and healthy while still enjoying some king cake here and there. Me eating king cake doesn't mean I don't prioritize health and fitness ... it just means I want some king cake here and there.
It's not a zero-sum game.
This. I did strict Keto for 6 months in 2018. I did it just to see what it was about. I enjoyed it greatly and experienced all the benefits everyone talks about. But over time, it got tiring for me. I sort of hit a wall and got tired of putting so much planning and effort into eating. I got off Keto in November, and so far I still feel great and I've focused on eating whole foods, nothing processed, and nothing with added sugars, and I've very aware of the amount of carbs I'm allowing myself to eat.
What I learned and what I apply today is that (absent health issues) eating healthy is about what works for you, and it's about what you eat most of the time rather than what you eat sometimes.
Do I sometimes have pizza? Yes. Do I sometimes have a hambuger? Yes. Did I steal a handful of sour patch kids from my nephew this weeked? Yes lol. But that's a treat and may be one meal a week for me out of 20 others that I am eating whole foods.

Good to know. I ate 3 slices of pizza last night and drank a beer as part of a celebration. My ketones dropped, but i was at .9 this morning(as i said, i'm usually around the 4.0 mark), so still in it and the rest of the week will be business as usual.

This isn't hard and you know the answer to this. Just stick to shopping for food that doesn't come in a box. That's 99% right there. Hardly any need to track calories or macros, as it is hard to get obese eating that way. Have some cake if you want. Who cares. You noticed you are ticking up sometime in the future? Great, you already know the basics to drop the weight back down.

Not even sure i want to transition to another "diet" per se. Just want to keep eating healthy Mon-Fri
Diet is technically what you eat regardless of the healthiness of it.

But not sure how to do so. I'd still track macros, but don't know what the ratios should look like. Still want to stay away from processed carbs/food, etc. Just want to give myself a little more leniency....a cheat meal every now and again. I'm back in the gym and have hopefully made it a habit again. I struggle with being too strict or killing myself on weekends worrying about if what i'm doing is going to kick me out of keto. Plus, i like king cake and haven't had a piece yet this season.
Not even sure i want to transition to another "diet" per se. Just want to keep eating healthy Mon-Fri but not worrying how many carbs a salad has or allowing myself to have a fruit smoothie every now and again. Don't get me wrong, Keto was great to trim down and kickstart the motivation, but i just can't see it fitting my lifestyle for the long term and being good for my mental health i.e. sending me off the deep end binging.

I do a diet similar to what you want.
Mon-Fri/ Keto, no more than 30 grams of carbs a day
Sat-Sun/ Carb reload
Best diet I have ever done. Steak and eggs was a close second. Started 2 and a half years ago. It’s really fun and I’m still doing it today.

Are you losing weight on this or just maintaining?

It depends on if I track my calories which I normally dont (just macros) but yes I have lost weight before on it. Right now I am maintaining with it.
It’s a really great diet for losing fat and maintaining muscle mass. Some guys on YouTube have got before and after dexascans and they gained small amounts of muscle mass while losing fat. I suspect they were still in the noob gain phase of weightlifting though. Because every guy that I have seen get those dexa results started off at skinny fat.
The trick to keep the muscle is red meat and eggs. Fish and chicken can be ate but it’s best to stick to red meat. Easy to lose weight and maintain. Hard to bulk on it though.
