Curious what you folks over here thought about this.

The results remained even if people exercised, ate healthily and rarely smoked or drank alcohol, the researchers claim.

I’d like to see details of this study. Were the subjects obese and on IF to lose weight? Did the subjects eat “healthy” according to the food pyramid? What was their specific diet?

What constitutes as exercise?

30% of 24k seems about in line for how much of the population is obese.

Considering our ancestors spent a plethora of time fasting before their next meal on many occasions; then I highly doubt this can raise early death by 30%.

Our ancestors are all dead. Makes you think.

Either by infection or trauma

Not by illness

Huge difference

Doesn't even pass a simple smell test. Not only is 30% an absurd number to begin with, but the natural condition of the human body was "intermittent" fasting.

What does this mean? People only lived 50 years in the “natural condition” years.

From everything we know about science nowadays and how’s its reported to us, this study probably confirms that intermittent fasting is the MOST healthy thing to do

I once went a while without eating. This could have been me.

Wonder who sponsored this study? 30% sounds high.

It means the human body was evolved in an environment of scarcity (feast and famine, really). Forced fasting was the norm.

Perhaps, but not in the way you are suggesting. Infant mortality + accidents, but human lifespans have been constant over the millennia. If they were dying at 50, it wasn't because they fasted.

They say fasters usually end up consuming a relatively large amount of food in one go, which over time may damage the body's cells. The team caution it is still too early to say definitively that fasting played a role in the early deaths as they can't rule out other lifestyle and genetic factors.

This seems to be a common thread in these types of studies

Sounds very Ancel Keysish. Conduct a study of several countries but only include the data from the countries that match your hypothesis and get you some more of that sweet grant money

Exactly! This study was probably done to back up whatever food pyramid BS they're getting ready to throw on us. Grain and sugar industry putting in that extra money to make us sick.

for the record....correlation studies=bullshite studies.

not saying they cant end up being right, but its not a study. its a look at trends, nothing more.
