If my BF really was 10.8%, how cut should I be?

Gym has an InBody scanner and the last 3x I have used it, it has said my BF% sits around 11-12% at 195-200lbs.

It’s different for everyone, but I’d say as a general rule you should have very visible abs without sucking in or flexing at 10.8%.

Your boyfriend sounds pretty hot.

If he’s that in shape, I’d say you should be pretty cut too.

Dude it doesn’t matter whether you have abs or not. What matters is being at a healthy BF percentage (which is anywhere from 12 to 17 percent)

Getting to lean has so many health risks that it’s not worth it

I’m typically around ~15% on Inbody (5’10 176). I don’t have abs, but they’re threatening to come out.

For what it’s worth, I’m 26% on DEXA…So massive discrepancy.

I’m sticking with DEXA for the next year to see if I can get down to 15-18% on that (assuming it equates to 10% on Inbody)

A few years ago I got pretty lean and was around 12% BF.. I could see top abs but still had some fat around bottom abs and slight love handles.

I was told by someone around 10% BF you would see lower abs too.

I didn’t want to get any leaner though. My face, arms, and everywhere except my lower mid section was getting too skinny IMO.

Currently around 15% but would like to cut back to 13% in the start of the new year.

Something is fricked up. There is no way there is that big of a discrepancy. If you have partially visible abs, you’re probably closer to 15% than 26%.

I have partially visible abs as well. Just had a dexa and it came back with 21.7% BF. I’m 5’9” 170lbs

its because bunch of people on here go get an inbody or dexa and they do not do it first thing in the morning while fasted.

so results are all over.

you have to be consistent as water weight will make these types of readings all over the placce.

I did the Inbody scanner at my Anytime Fitness recently and I thought the body fat percentage was way too low. I have top 2 sets of abs barely visible but they are without flexing and it had me at 15%. I would think I am alot closer to 20%. I store most of my fat in midsection and weigh 236 at 6'3".

Every bodyfat test I have ever taken (Inbody/DEXA) has been fasted in the morning.

I am consistently around ~15% on InBody and my 1 DEXA was 26%. I'll go back in February for a 2nd DEXA and see if I still see large swings.

I definitely had "sticker shock" when I saw 26%...I run ultramarathons and compete in CrossFit/Hyrox competitions, so at 5'10 175 I am in what I would consider pretty solid shape.

For what it's worth, the guy who did my DEXA said this is extremely common when comparing the 2 (Inbody vs DEXA). I think it makes the most sense to stay consistent in whatever measurement protocol you are taking and work to see results there rather than comparing across modalities.

You’d have to have very little muscle indeed to be 26% bf at that height and weight.

Or maybe you have very light bones.

consistency is most important as all of these have a margin of error unless you go see dr tinsley at TTU and have all of them done and use his modeling software

i have had both dexa and inbody and for me, both are very very consistent with one another. but i have a protocol i do.

now i have done a 24 hour dry fast to see how it messed with test....showed me losing like 8 lbs of lean muscle overnight and bodyfat went from like 14 to 26% in 24 hours.

so yea they can be manipulated big time.

Where is the closest place to get a dexa in Baton Rouge? Pennington was doing a study of 7 different models of machines to compare consistency, but couldn’t get in.
