My 15 year old started hitting the gym with me this summer. He is a good soccer player, but super skinny. Not sure creatine would be good for him in soccer, either, though

Get him the original JACK3D formula from 15 years ago which is now discontinued. He’ll be lifting more than you, driving without a license, and hanging out with women your age.

Probably better to just up his protein intake.

Except he plays soccer

OP, 15 years old is fine. When I was in HS most athletes were taking it. Just make sure he stays hydrated

But if he's super skinny creatine isn't going to fix that. At his age and activity level he needs to be eating a ton

This. Creatine can help but he needs to be in super protein surplus to put on weight with his current activity levels.

It’s not going to make him jacked or gain weight, but there is little to no downside to creatine. Lots of evidence that everyone benefits from it, even without lifting.

If you want him to gain muscle, he needs to be eating a lot of high protein whole food. Supplementing with protein powder/shakes is fine depending on goals, not really necessary but can help a lot with getting some protein on the go in the morning. Fairlife shakes are awesome for this.

As early as possible for brain development

For performance whenever too and yes it will help soccer as it’s much more of a sprint then walk sport than people think, been a couple analysis on this.

But as others have said, creatine as far as performance goes is more cherry on top, overall diet and lifting program is way way more important

Now your kid should 100% be on it but more for brain health, anti depressant effect etc

What program do you plan to have him follow?

You take two scoops in the morning and forget.

Its is a great performance enhancer, but I'm no expert on age limits, although some of my buddies were on it in high school.

I give my 6 yr old 1.5g a day of creapure gummies. Research on benefits in kids as young as 12 months. All cognitive benefits is what I do it for. Don’t care as much about the physical benefits at this age

777 - question…. Son(14) taking creatine powder , hates the taste, etc…

Wife came home with com Crete hcl gummies…:

Serving size says 3 gummies, which is only .75 g of creatine…. Shouldn’t he be taking about 5 g per
Day?

Oh sorry lol

I thought you meant creatine program

He basically just does a full body workout… squats, bench, lat pulldowns/pullups, leg extensions, calf raises, shoulder lateral raises, and bis/tris

Does 10 reps +/- 2 per set, 3-4 sets per exercise

3 days per week

get him on an actual program, stop randomly having him do something

at 14, i highly suggest the bedrock program from power athlete on trainherioc. its a linear progression program, but it is 6 days per week.

if he can not do that then I suggest doing starting strength or stronglifts. Stronglifts has an app and very simple to follow

he is a novice, he needs to do a novice linear progression. It doesnt sound like you are real knowledgable so keep it simple. Do bedrock or stronglifts and add ~5-8 10 yard sprints on off days and DB jumps with 5/10/15 lbs DBs before every lifting session.

what you are doing is dumb in terms of novice. If he wants to do more than the program says, add chip ups daily.

gummies are not consistent with dosing but better than nothing. HCL takes less dosage, 1g-1.5g is plenty of HCL to start with. I would start with 3 gummies and see how his stomach handles it, it he is ok, up to 6 gummies daily and stay there.

but if you want, mix the power in a protein shake so he cant taste it.

Ok cool. Yea that’s what we have been doing. Just the gummies would be so much easier, then can use the protein powder when he drinks the smoothies

So the 4-6 gummies is equivalent of the 5mg powder, correct?

And appreciate your help…

yea roughly equivalent

can he not handle just the powder thrown in the smoothie? cause it should be tasteless and when blended in the smoothie shouldnt have textrure either

thats what i have to do with my kids for them to take it.
