How helpful are knee wraps/sleeves for squats?

My one rep max is 425# (5'10 205 if it matters). My one rep has been in the 405-425 range for 4ish years now, and I squat a lot. Part of it is I'm probably just approaching my limit and it's hard to make big gains from here. But I've never used knee wraps/sleeves, are those worth looking into? If so, any recommendations?

Wraps will allow you to squat more weight, but if you’re not competing in powerlifting as an equipped lifter, do you need it?

Knee sleeves are allowed as a raw lifter, but you won’t lift much more compared to wraps.

I have 7mm knee sleeves for sale (4 styles) and you could probably go with a medium which will give you some added support.

Wraps and sleeves are different. Wraps will help you lift more. Sleeves are for comfort and injury prevention.

How much benefit you get from wraps has a lot to do with how much knee travel you have. They help more if you have a lot of knee travel and are a quad dominant squatter.

I have SBD knee sleeves and they have been great for knee health and injury prevention. I don't lift more in the short term, but in the ling term, healthy knees will allow you to progress.

Why no gains in your squat?

No training partners?

What's your program like?

Sleeves and wraps will give you a boost but to what end? To say you lifted more? Just put on full powerlifting fear and say that.

Wraps can be a good overload but will mess with technique ever so slightly and normal use can be bad on knees.

Yeah I mean there isn't a need to squat more I guess, aside from just a pride/ego standpoint

My squat has always been around 405, max, but I don’t mind it.

If you’re in BR, let me know on the knee sleeves. I have 100s of pairs.

I can ship them, too. Comparable to Rehband, but price is much lower.

Have you trained with other squat variations? If all your doing is traditional back squats, switch to others and train on them. Then when you plateau there, go back to traditional and work your way back up.

How much are they? I’ve been interested in wearing them mainly as a means of injury prevention. I have a family history of bad knees.

You have a 2x body weight squat, be happy with yourself. Especially if you've maintained that strength for 4yrs.

If you really do "squat a lot," I would bet a little less frequency might help, though. Worth a shot.

I've got Nordic knee sleeves, elbow sleeves, and wrist wraps. I don't use the wrist wraps often but I use the knee and elbow sleeves pretty damn often. I have trouble with both; I've had no significant knee or elbow pain ever since I started using those sleeves when I'm doing heavy squats or oly lifts.

I won't squat without sleeves. They keep my knees really warm and pain free. Don't really help me lift more, they just keep my knees feeling good

Exactly why I use them.

I wear them nearly every day: Squats, Thrusters, Olympic Lifting, Burpees, Lunges, Wallballs, etc..

I reluctantly ordered the Nordic knee sleeves. I don't know why but I have always stayed away from any kind of "assistance." But after nagging tweaking in my left knee I said screw it. And I'm glad I did. The sleeve has made a huge difference in comfort and confidence. I only use the one on my left knee...until I screw up the right one.

Sleeves--not really for increasing max capabilities.
Wraps--it varies, but you'll get a significant bump (up to around 70 pounds).

Sleeves help with pain. Wraps (like suits) started for some health purposes, but mostly they're a thing to jump the max up. If you want numbers, start wrappin'.
