Got the gout and wow……this shite hurts UPDATE (NOT GOUT)

Came out of nowhere on Friday. It’s in my knee and good Lord it hurts.
For all of the folks I may snickered at, I sincerely apologize!
Oh. Killed the seafood and drank a shite ton of beer this weekend
UPDATE: well, it’s not gout. Apparently, over two seperate workouts (lunges/step ups) I ruptured my patella femoral ligament on the inside of the knee. Drew off 150cc of fluid yesterday.
Same knee that put me on NCAA hardship……thought is bone spurs contributed to failure.
Upside - GOUT [OFF] ON / BEER OFF [ON]

Sorry to see. Hop down to your MD Monday and get a script for Colchicine. That works for me every time. Oh, and lay off the seafood going forward. You're not 25 years old any more.

I had a gout attack once, runs in my family, same triggers that you mentioned. I had colchicine to get rid of it and have been on allopurinol ever since. No more gout events, I'm happy to take a daily to never have that pain again

I’m a sufferer as well, my trigger is unfortunately physical, usually doing something active in new shoes. I have the classic big toe variety. I’ve had some j juries in the past and must have developed a buildup so I am literally always treading lightly. Always aware of it. Had to stop running but have done my best to replace with cycling.
My last 2 attacks were brutal and lasted weeks. Typically around this time of year. Felt like my foot was going to explode. Looked like it might. Colchicine seems to have fought it off a few times but it constantly lingers. I have a scrip to alupurinol that I need to start taking.
I feel for you. Gout has a huge misconception. It’s not some medical condition brought on strictly by poor diet. It’s an acute arthritis that’s hereditary and downright debilitating.

Dude. Worst pain I have ever experienced.
Out of literally no where. Had a workout Friday afternoon and did light legs……hot shower and BOOM. The hardcore pain hit 1am Sunday. Of course the wife and I had a date day that included rich foods/beer on Saturday (had no idea I had gout).
frick this.

I got it randomly in my ankle about a year ago. I thought somebody took a lead pipe to my ankle. Doc gave me a script of alopurinol and it went away. Now, I drink a lot of water and watch the diet. Getting old sucks.

When I lost a bunch of weight at the beginning of last year, it hit me hard. Knee and feet. Made me completely immobile. So bad that the doc gave me morphine.

I said the same thing when I got it. I used to bust my dad's balls over it when I was a kid. I did not understand the level of pain it could cause. I legitimately would have cut my foot off if I had the means to do so. Hands down the worst pain I have ever felt. I was crying it hurt so bad. I called my dad when I recovered and apologized. He laughed and said, "Ha! It fricking sucks, doesn't it?"
I had started creatine two weeks before my gout flared. After doing some easy research, it turns out creatine is not good for people who have a genetic gout thing going on. I wish I'd have done the research beforehand.

Tart cherry juice. Seriously. You'll thank me later.

Looks like I’ll still have beer/oysters for now.
But getting old sucks.
