I've stopped the mindset of if I eat over my calories I can eat whatever I want because I've failed the day.

This has always been my problem. All I can do it try, though. I'm currently on day 19 without a cheat day.

I’m 5’6 176lbs, and I’m jacked but still a little pudge on the lower abs. It sucks and it’s depressing, but keep fighting.

My goal is shredded abs so I cycle on and off the carnivore diet 60 days on, 30 days off, and I’m in the gym 6x a week. Most people think I’m ridiculous about it, but each person has their goal and I’m not stopping until I achieve it.

You could probably reach your goal easily in 90 days by tracking calories and consistently eating in a deficit. You wouldn’t even have to deprive yourself of non-meat foods

I’m burning over 3k calories a day and at a deficit. The beauty of carnivore is not sacrificing muscle. The fat is slowly coming off but the mass is maintained.

Some days are harder than others, but I’m committed.

From what? Unless you are at the gym multiple hours or work on your feet that's hard a lot at your height and weight.

Certainly possible, but it's a very active lifestyle

I work out 1.5-2hrs a day. Workouts are usually 900-1200 calories burned.

I think I was around 10.5 when I had a good 6 pack going. Running and lifting every single day and 21 years old. I dont see how any 30+ year old man keeps that up.

Don’t know what to tell you. I track everything, work outs, food, etc., and I do bloodwork every 3 months.

You can see the last little bit of pudge. I’ve been fighting it for a while now. Scale moves very slow, but I’m holding on to the muscle.

Edit: I’m also 46yrs old, so...

EDIT II:
Post from 3yrs ago documenting my struggles. I’ve made serious strides, but still fighting the good fight.

read that whole thread, godo shite adn glad to see you are doing well still and honestly right now you are sub 15% on a dexa, prolly closer to 12.5%. You have only 3-4 lbas of fat to lose to be at your goal, prolly 8 pounds overall.

Good to see you are taking diet breaks too.

good luck man and lmk if i can help any. Im on the same path right now.

The advice in that thread was very helpful. I needed the wake up call.

The only time I got lean enough to see more than 4 abs, I got to between 7-8% BF. I was super lean, but miserably tired and increasingly weak.

I "feel" my best between 12-15% and I'll never try to get under 10% again.

Ehhh maybe for most but I’m 5’9 175 and I have abs. I have super, super thick legs though

I’m similar to your cousin at 5’6” and ~130 lbs, 58 years old. When I was in the upper 140s lbs I could only see a couple of upper abs.

Here’s a pic from last week, not sure what my body fat % is, so any thoughts on that would be great.

Exactly what happens to me. I'm 5'9" and went from 185lbs (overweight) to 162lbs. While I was very lean and abs showing, with low body fat, I also lost weight everywhere else and looked and felt very small and skinny. People were telling me: "You look like you lost too much weight"

I now like to be 168 and fluctuate to 170lbs and while I hold a little more fat I feel better and don't look or feel skinny even though I am naturally not a big guy.

I'm sure everyone is different but I like to live life and not worry about being in perfect shape any longer. As long as I stay healthy and not get over weight I am good.

FYI: I am also 51 years old..

yea totally depends on how much muscle mass you are carrying. im barely a true 5'9" and at 170 I would be about 6-8% bf.

175 is my goal by end of summer. But i have been lifting for 25 years on and off now.

You are sub 10%, prolly in the 8% range. You need to work you abs harder if you want them to show more.

Thanks - I almost never work my abs, so that’s something to work on
