My dilemma, only time I have to get on the elliptical is 4:30am. I'm one of those people who usually eats within 30min of waking. Tried eating before starting and I felt sluggish. If I don't have anything I get nauseous and light headed. Any advice?

a single sugar cube right before you work out.

should do enough to keep you from getting all light headed...but allow you to workout fasted which boosts HGH.

I used to work out in the mornings after only a bowl of oatmeal and had trouble putting on muscle. Started to do the protein shake before and started to see better results.

Sounds like you have a problem, if you need to eat that early and only for cardio.

You high carb?

Because someone told you to eat before working out?

Like someone said a protein shake or a banana is all you need.

I didn't make this clear earlier, but I have a banana strawberry protein shake before workouts. It fills me up just the right amount. Usually about 30 mins if I workout in the morning, an hour before if I workout in afternoon.

Tried one this morning. Seems to be the winner so far. Appreciate the help.

You really shouldn't need anything, especially that early, for an elliptical workout. Do you drink water when you wake up? It could be a hydration issue, not a food issue.

Fast carbs. Try some fruit. Or try a carb supplement. Something you can sip on as you're walking.

Yeah, skip the food and you won't miss it after a couple of days.

If you’re just doing cardio, and you’re looking to drop fat, you should exercise on an empty stomach.

If you’re lifting, or training for another purpose besides weight loss, you should eat something before.

It's a mindset. Once you get adapted it's easy because you feel so much better. Been on Keto since January and down 60 lbs. Started fasted cardio 2 weeks ago to break a stall. Riding 5 miles every morning 615-645. Cup of BPC at 8 and some days it's after 12 before I eat. Never before 10 am.
