Baw Bros,
4 weeks with no drinks. Never was one for social media driven months, but hopped on this one. Longest period with no drinks since 2017. No coincidence, I've lost some weight, sleep better and seem genuinely happier. I'm won't pretend to never drink again, but this has been a nice change. Reset the desire if nothing else.

I did this 24 years ago. Best decision ever. Don’t rule it out. I quit at 38 yo

awesome man, thats what its all about. Its fine to have 2 or 3 drinks with some buddies once or twice a month, but the daily or weekend binge drinking many on the OT have tried to normalize and so many in south LA seem to love....yea its killing them a little at a time

glad to hear success for you.

Agreed.

I started with the intent to do a month and see how I feel… and now I want to do the entire year dry. Kind of want to remember what it’s like to go to a wedding, a party, or a football game, etc without the assumed drink in hand that is supposed to make it fun.

I feel a lot better being 3.5 weeks in! Went to a kids birthday party the other day, all the moms were drinking champagne and told
Me I had amazing willpower to decline. A month ago I would have agreed with them and thought it normal to have champs and alcohol at a 1.5 hour kid party. I did the same for my kids. Now im like… is that even necessary? I don’t want to be a “dry” evangelist but the longer you go without drinking, the more you realize how alcohol has got to be tied to everything we do in our lives these days.

Don't beat yourself up over it. I did the same last Friday at a group event planned at a brewery. I was there for 3 1/2 hours and had one beer. Old me would have had 6 and the wife would have had to drive home.

Woke up Saturday feeling good and I haven't had anything since.

Every event in the Rosary Belt requires booze. Children’s birthday parties, house showings, funerals, etc.

I drank 2 times this month but it wasn't heavy, just 2 or 3 beers with friends. It's gotten a lot easier to pass on drinking and junk food. First week was rough but I rarely think about it now.

You’re right but this is actually in the “Bible Belt” in Little Rock. I agree south Louisiana is truly on another level with cultural professional alcoholism, but this is pretty standard with young-ish moms with little kids. Not drinking makes you stand out. It’s become the treat, what you deserve. Wine is the new Xanax.

Unwittingly had a beer over the weekend. Was pretty pissed when I realized what I had done. But 30 out of 31 days is not bad.

I'm trying to not drink the entire year, but the dry January craze has helped me.

The thing I notice the most is how slim my face looks all the time. If I drank it was 4-5 days before my face went down all the way to normal. If I drank every 2-3 days, it would just be perpetually a little puffy.

Now, even if I slip up on food intake, I slim back down pretty quickly. Thoughts are much clearer now as well.

I don't know that I'll go back.

I’m still dry too. Not having a drink until our trip to Costa Rica on February 9th. I’ll booze it up there, but still will cut back once I get back. I’ve lost weight, skin is clearing up some, and I overall feel better. I like it.

Congrats my friend.

I’ve been trying and failing for years for januarys to try to cut out porn. Here we are. Almost an entire month without it. I do feel better as I was definitely becoming somewhat enslaved to it .

So this is my own Success post
