Does everyone's body have a default weight?

Ie if you do nothing you will default to X weight +/- 7 lbs.
Example: guy weighs 200 lbs.
He diets and excercises for 6 months and drops to 175.
He falls off the wagon, doesn't excercise, eats garbage and within only 2 months balloons back to 200.
However, for the next 10 months he continues to eat like shite and not work out.....and he still weighs 200 lbs.
My question is what allows him to baloon the 25 in 2 months, but then turns around and keeps him from going to 300 lbs (10 months at 25 lbs per every 2 month diet he had when he ballooned)
What is keeping him at 200?

Sort of. I think historically when unlimited calories weren't so easy to come by and every male was averaging 15% or less bodyfat and not living a sedentary lifestyle, then yes.

Kind of, but it's not any set weight. Just natural appetite levels and you/your body can up NEAT to accommodate for overeating a bit every now and again.
There is a body 'set point' theory, but it is largely unproven aside from anecdotal evidence. If same person you mentioned dieted down to 175 and kept his weight there purposefully for a year, then theoretically 175 would be the new 'set point'.

Genetics and age play huge factor.

i think it's as simple as you settle in....if i do the same routine every day and eat roughly the same amount of calories every day, eventually i will settle in to whatever weight that is for me
that 200 pound guy wont get to 300 unless he continually eats more and more

I’m always around 195-200.
If I decide to get strict with my diet and add in some targeted fat burning cardio, I’d drop down to 185.
...but, nah. frick that.

I used to hover at 190, but then I injured my knees and cannot run anymore. Since then I hover at 210. I go up and down here and there but my weight is pretty consistent no matter what I eat or drink

People fail to realize that they have to alter their eating habits after the suffer leg injuries which prevents them from getting in the cardio they were doing previously. Hell, even walking suffices to some degree.
I lost weight after an ACL tear because I knew I had to change what I was doing to prevent bad weight gain while I rehabbed.

I graduated college, got a job that has me driving 35k a year. I ate burgers every day and on healthy days I ate Izzos. Started working out last January. Got serious about my diet this October. Went from 218 to 185 on scale today. If I stopped everything, I have no doubt I’d go back to 215ish very quickly.

I think it’s sort of true and I’ve been in the 170-180 range since HS 20+ years ago. On the other hand, I think I’d get to the190-200 range if I quit playing basketball and other HIIT type activities. Hopefully will not find out for a while.

ETA: I got on clean creations for about 3 months and didn't lose a pound

I’m not saying give up your love of food, just limit portion sizes.
