I also remember in the Lone Survivor book that it was heavily encouraged to take a lot of NSAIDs during the most taxing days. It wouldn't have helped me enough to complete but maybe some of you guys.

I don't think that I've ever 'almost drowned' but would not want to experience that part of it either (which I think is almost expected for everyone?).

Nope. I could take the cold at one point but that is about it. Those guys are better men than me and I'm proud to admit it.

Sealfit does a “Kokoro Camp” which is like a long weekend mini BUDs for anyone that wants to sign up. It’s mostly executive business men or guys training to prepare for BUDs.

GoRuck also does a “selection” course that last like 3-4 days know Jacksonville. Both of them will give you a small taste of what going through BUDs/Selection would be like.

Ben Greenfield did the Kokoro Camp and a podcast episode about it. Worth the hour and a half or so to listen in.

I would give it my fricking damn hardest try. I always wanted to join the military and go the SF route. So I’d like to think I would make it.

I could probably have done the physical and mental stuff... but not the swimming/underwater shite. Too many experiences of my older brothers holding me underwater until I panicked made me a little uncomfortable with too much immersion. And that’s a huge piece of it.

When I was right out of High School would have been my only shot, and no.

There’s a documentary on YouTube about class 234 at BUD/s, watch it and see what you think.

It takes a lot more than being in good shape! Or being a good swimmer!

good god.

seriously? you think so? Tell me about the "mental fortitude" necessary...

then I can tell you about running two miles, with a .75 mile swim while bleeding internally and spending the next 9 days in ICU because they thought you would die from blood loss.

I seriously cant stand some of you people.

Not too late.

I regret not going into the service out of law school myself.
