Are there any supplements that you swear by and you take every day? This question isn’t directed at you meatheads that drink 6 protein shakes a day and have 7-15lb Whey containers in top of their fridge.

I’ve been taking One-A-Days for a little while now. I don’t work out with weights. I try to stay active and out the house. I walk 3-5 miles a week. Unfortunately I’m relatively close to middle age.

I think probiotics are good for you, things like kefir..etc.

Or so my girlfriend constantly says. I should probably listen.

Supplements aren't necessary if eat good diet.

These shredded 50 y.o. guys aren't the result of GNC supplements. It's Growth Hormone, Steroids etc.

Plus, you really have no clue WTF you're actually taking.
There was a scene in Bigger Stronger Faster where they had illegal immigrants bottling supplements.

I’ve always taken a multi vitamin. I exercise a lot with cardio and weights. Never understood all the creatine, protein, etc for people that aren’t playing a major sport. Most of that stuff goes straight through you anyways.

Daily supplements produce expensive urine, and that's about it.

If I know my diet has been shite lately, or if I'm feeling a little run down, I'll take a multi-vitamin for a few days just in case I'm low on something. Other than that, no. And anyone taking those 1000% DV supplements are burning money.

Well they commit less crime than the rest of us so that’s just smart business.

No. No real idea what's in most of them or the long term effects.

Anything you take will work best if it’s used in cycles.

I take a Men’s Alive multivitamin every day. I buy it at Wal-Mart. It’s your typical multivitamin but has higher amounts of the B vitamins. It may just be the placebo effect but I have a little more energy since I’ve been taking it. I’m also unfortunately approaching middle age.

Honestly?

Two reasons. I have a severe anxiety about walking in and people staring at me while I’m working out. I literally have zero idea what I’m doing. I’ve never worked out in my life. I stayed in shape by running, and playing sports probably 4-5 days a week. Had kids and that’s died down.

Second, I’m very competitive. Lifting weights does nothing for me, mentally. I feel like it’s a chore more than anything. I’m lifting weights. I’m not up against anyone. I understand the goal is to be healthy, that’s what I’d be “winning.”

Ultimately though, the main thing is I have no clue what I’m doing and when I walk in someplace, I feel like everyone and their mother knows that and I’m the idiot. (Yes, I know no one cares and no one is watching in reality, but that’s not what’s going through my head. It’s a weird anxiety)

Bombs away. I know it’s coming

Different things work well for different people, so there’s no reason for trepidation.

A workout that results in tremendous gains for one person might not be effective for the next guy.

As long as you aren’t slamming weights, leaving stuff unracked, or walking around between sets speaking loudly on a bluetooth, nobody will pay you much mind.

It also doesn’t help when you read that one workout is good,, great, wonderful and two days later there’s someone else somewhere saying how awful the workout is for your body.

That may be the most frustrating part of the entire issue. Seems like every time I’d try something, someone is saying it’s all wrong.

Don’t remind me. I signed up here in 2005 in my 20s. That was just 5-6 years ago, wasn’t it?
