Pretty sad that feeling good feels like super powers to me. I never realize the toll daily drinking takes on my body until I quit. It was never excessive, 2 or 3 beers a night and more on the weekends. A "casual" morning mile for me would be around 9 or 10 minutes and at the end of it I could barely breath. I ran sub 8 minutes this morning and was barely breathing heavy. I was also counting the drinking in to my daily macros so I'd have 600 to 1000 empty calories that are now food. I've lost about 15 lbs over the past few months and felt shitty the whole way but now on the same calories I'm feeling pretty good.

I guess it's like creatine. When you've been on it a while you don't really notice what it does until you stop taking it.

I'm still doing ppsa filling up the hoodie, on day 4 as I can't always complete everything on time due to baseball commits right now. Next week season is finally over for all the kids unless my little wins the tournament, then we have state

I love baseball season but with 3 kids, 2 in travel it's a long season and by this time every year, I'm worn out.

I don’t have kids yet, but my wife and I are already praying our kids don’t play baseball because of the schedule that shite demands.

The good news is, if my kids catch my wife’s genetics, they probably won’t play sports because she is a pretty shitty athlete

man its awesome and fun and wouldnt be that big of a deal, but i have 3 kids.

but its not just baseball, its football for all 3, my oldest and youngest are also into basketball and the oldest also does track

then you throw in all the lessons for baseball, track, basketball and yea its always something going on, then also trying to find time to train them is pain in the arse for sure

i love them and i know what it takes to make HS teams and since they love baseball so not going to deny them that opportunity at an elementary school age because i dont feel like doing it, so i just suck it up. same for track.

its crazy how much things have changed in the last 10-12 years. The info to be a great player is easier than ever to get for all sports, but in turn it has pushed the level of play so high, you have to be working 8 months out of the year and start lifting at early age to make elite hs teams. Same for track

atleast in football and baseball its still mainly athletic driven unless you are an elite qb or very high level basketball.

I feel like my specific age group of millennials was the group that brought about the age of sport specialization as a kid. I was good at baseball and soccer and had to pick one when I was 13. Chose soccer because I liked it more even though I was probably better at baseball.

Basically, the people my age that tried to be general athletes became a jack of all trades but master of none (outside of a couple particularly gifted exceptions). They played everything but weren’t starters or anything. For some, that’s okay but it doesn’t fly with the competitive ones that want to be good.

I think that’s been amplified by the sheer amount of information and resources available to kids nowadays. There’s high level coaching and resources that you can get from watching YouTube. I’ve seen it play out with my younger cousins even more so than it was at my age.

I would say football is the exception to this rule because it’s just king in LA. Everyone plays football if they’re an athlete and the other sports will cow-tow to football but not each other. My soccer coach had no problem with me playing football but wouldn’t let me wrestle or play baseball.

pretty much. with football, its still athlete vs athlete on the outside. But even in football, the footwork and handwork progression is pretty crazy.

my kids dont specialize and fortunately for them, they will enter high school more than likely the strongest kids in the school.

i dont push them to play sports, just require that they be involved in something...sports/clubs/ math teams...just have to be involved somehow, someway. But they all love sports and each has their own favorite as of now.

when they get to 8th grade, we will choose 2 sports to really compete in, more than likely for all it will be football and a spring sport. for my oldest he will prolly end up doing football and throwing in track, younger 2 will be football and baseball. my 6 year old loves basketball but i think that will fade eventually but until it does, i will push it. My middle will prolly want to just do baseball come high school as his work ethic for a 9 year old is stupid and i kind of have to make him play other sports.

one good thing about a home gym is they beg me to lift and love to get stronger. the 6 year old begs to be able to do pullups which is awesome. hopefully they develop a love for it like i did.

Same way I plan to handle my kids. Don’t care if it’s sports, but they’ve got to be a part of something. They’re not just ducking around at home aimlessly all day, every day.

Selfishly, I hope they get into golf. I got into only a couple years ago so I suck and wish I had grown up playing. It’s a sport that they can use the rest of their life not only for personal fun but for business. I started playing for work reasons, but I’ve grown to love it. The selfish reasoning is that it’s something I could play with them forever. I’ve got a busted ankle and rotator cuff that I really don’t want to get surgery on so their dad ain’t kicking/throwing a ton more soccer balls or baseballs

get some bands and email me and ill give you my sign in for crossover symmetry. you can rebuild that shoulder without surgery unless you literally have a severe tear

as far as the ankle, all you can do is strengthen it knees over toes style.

and yea it sucks that at like 8 or the very latest 10, your kid has to decide if they want to even pursue HS baseball/softball, but it is what it is. If you decide to not play travel by 10, unless you were blessed with extreme genetics, then unfortunately you are not going to make a good hs team.

many kids will start and decide later, usually after 11 or 12, they no longer want that, but you have to start that early due to skill development and time committment it takes to develop those skills.

it kind of sucks as a parent too, cause essentially if you choose not to get into the travel ball life, which is a huge committment as a family especially if you have multiple kids like myself, then you are essentially saying your kid will not play hs baseball and you are makign that choice for them as early as 7 or 8 in most cases.

i do hate the misconception though that travel kids dont get to play other sports, that they dont get to hunt and fish or do other things which 100% wrong.

im trying to give mine as many oppurtunities for hs sports as i can. my father did it for me and sacrificed tons of time for baseball for me. My kids may decide not to play any sports at all come highschool(very doubtful) but i dont want to make that decision for them while they are in elementary school, thats for sure.
