Anyone else get kinda sad that you don’t get to push some real weight for a week?

I always thought that was a side benefit of a deload. Not only do you get a physical break, you should come back raring to go.

I've been lifting this week, just a 4 day week bc I have a work thing Friday.

Last night was a somewhat abbreviated dynamic upper body day.

3 giant sets of weighted pushups, face pulls, shoulder circuit sled drags, curls, weighted dips, skullcrushers and grip work.

Sledgehammer work to finish.

How do you get into position with the barbell?

Never done hypers with a barbell. Maybe something similar to a front squat barbell position? But holding the weight closer to your elbows? Hands crossed holding onto opposite shoulders. Sounds do-able.

I see little Chinese dudes doing 315 on a hyper bench with a barbell. I can’t even mount with just the barbell.

Do you have an SSB? It's ideal, b/c you can shoulder it, then use your hands to get into position.

Nope. I will try a variation. Something Brian Alsruhe does. Basically deadlifts from a hyper bench.

I've heard those as Rubish deadlifts bc Pete Rubish was the first guy really doing them.

Awesome for your hamstrings, glutes and low back.

Got an obesity thread on the OT. Always enjoy monitoring these things. Gov’t study found that 40% or more of Americans are obese. While I don’t necessarily disagree, they used BMI which is possibly the worst statistic out there.

I’m 5-10 172ish with around 13% BF and it calls me “overweight”

The OT is clearly the epitome of health and personal responsibility.

I’ll admit I’m a little overweight. I’m considering a cut just to show off some muscles over the summer.

Wednesday PR test

Deadlift 370 x5
Press 140 x5

Great lifts. Taking 4 days off the recover. Will be back at it Monday.

Can someone tell me how the frick I’m supposed to use a barbell on hypers?

Load the bar with 25's instead of 45's and use a snatch grip. LINK

Anybody have a couple of rear-delt/trap variations they really like? Feel like I'm lagging behind in those two areas so would like to throw in a couple more accessories to target those. Currently mostly do face pulls and shrugs variations.

Unfortunately heavy farmer's walks are off the table as I'm still trying to rehab the lower back.

TIA!

Sumo deadlifts are more complicated than conventional deads. Be patient.

Bench - 165, 4x3, 1x7
Squat - 165, 3x10
Lat Pulldowns - 55, 3x15
Cable Crossovers - 12.5, 2x15
Hip Abductor Machine - 70, 2x15

On my grip for the bench, I had a guy spot me for my AMRAP who said I should widen my grip, I was about an inch inside the band with my pinky.

He recommended I put my middle finger over the band. Thoughts?

I find grip width to be very individualistic. Too narrow, no chest. Too wide, no triceps. Find a middle ground that is comfortable. As long as you’re setting up properly, that’s all that matters.

I think he knew what he was talking about and I was using tris so.

I'm a wider guy so that was his thought.
