Didn’t sign up this year because of a shoulder injury, and not disappointed. What kind of lazy programming is it when you only have 3 Wods and the first one is a repeat?

I like it. I mean most people haven’t been doing the open since 2014 but for those who have, it’s a nice benchmark for how much you’ve improved since 2014. It’s also a pretty cool workout. It’s got strength, endurance and gymnastics. What’s not to like?

It’s a good chipper, can def see how you stack up with people that may have better skill or engines

Idiot staff loaded the barbell incorrectly for girls yesterday. The weight should have been 43kg and they loaded 38kg. I mean, even in Europe, they frick up using the metric system.

All 3 female athletes have to redo the workout.

Has there ever been a hot CrossFit chick? Did the chicks look like shrek before CrossFit or was it the CrossFit that turned them into ogres?

If it’s CrossFit making them look like Roseanne Barr the founders should be in prison imo

Repeats make sure you work on skills presented in past opens. It’s not lazy. Crossfit is all about measured progress over time. The open is no different

ETA rings also weed out all the “this is dumb” people and all the people that actual worked on them are rewarded.

Have to disagree. There are so many other ways to include TTB, muscles-ups, etc. without recycling a WOD.

It’s a good, tough WOD, but we probably have done it 4x in the last 5 years.

Anybody do it? I think I’ll get 5-10 MU if my shoulder doesn’t fall off. I’m out of town but will do it when I get back.

Just did it and it's a motherfricker. VERY rough starting out on 60 cals rowing because it's like you want to hit the gate running and that's not the thing to do. The transition between movements never felt smooth.

I did it today. T2B ruined me. Only got 175 reps but I really pushed myself to crank out the wall balls and cleans (well most of them) after the T2B so I’m proud of that. I can only do bar muscle ups unfortunately, haven’t gotten the rings yet. Didn’t really matter though

I saw a tip today on the cleans and it was accurate. Don't do touch and go on them. Do a clean and drop. Do a clean and drop. In that manner.

Yeah by the time I got to them I was gassed and I wouldn’t have been able to do more than 2-3 in a row. I just did quick singles

I single Grace and still get right under 2:30. The only way to go.

There’s a CrossFit “box” inside my gym.

The girls that are really into it kind of look… round? Built shoulders, arms, traps, bulky muscular legs, and not much of a waist. There are some who are cut but also still have a somewhat feminine shape, too. But they’re in the minority.

I do mostly strength training but whatever they’re doing in CrossFit is not the look I’m going for as a female. Muscular and lean is attractive, but bulky and round is not, IMO. They’re strong girls, I’ll give them that.

What gives..? Is it what they’re eating?

Yeah; I wasn’t referring to their asses. I was referring to their general figure. As in distended turtle shell stomachs and waists that don’t go in on the sides at all. ie if classifying hourglass figures or not, I would say theirs is that of a meatball. A fit meatball, but a meatball, nonetheless.

In ninth year of doing CrossFit and have seen females in all shapes and sizes between the four gyms I've been a member at and countless drop-ins with my work travel, so going to stick with thread topic.

I'm indifferent about 23.1. Open is always tough for me since I've been umpiring HS baseball since I started the sport in 2014. Had two games last night and 12 innings of a varsity scrimmage today. With that said, haven't been able to do 23.1 yet. I've done the workout several times in past and usually start resorting to singles between 30-35 t2b pending fitness level at time. My realistic goal if / when I do it is Rx and get through all cleans with maybe 1 or 2 RMU.

I didn't sign up for Open this year due to baseball (6 tourney games from Th - Sat next week), but hoping to re-test 23.1. I've also planned my leave on Friday so I can do both baseball and Open workout.

Will add that it being workout #1 is underwhelming. Do creative workout to intro, then maybe introduce a previous one.
