Is this something to take year around to train or cycle? Also is there any reason to take this while cutting? New to this and just looking for some help. Thanks in advance

As far as I know there's no reason to ever cycle off creatine and it's pretty much universally beneficial IMO.

Creatine is super helpful if you're looking for that extra couple of reps in the gym. Some people recommend you do a loading phase where you take 3 times as much per day for the first week or so but that's really unnecessary if you plan on sticking with it for a while. You'll definitely gain weight but as soon as you stop taking it you'll lose that weight in a hurry.
Best bet is powdered form of course and taking just 5g of it per day. Drinking water is a MUST, no less than a gallon a day is what's recommended. If you're not dedicated to taking it, getting those extra few reps in the gym and drinking the appropriate amount of water, there's no use in being "on" creatine.
More info here. Creatine
Brand I use (very popular) OPTIMUM NUTRITION Micronized Creatine Monohydrate Powder, Unflavored, 600g

Creatine is one of those supplements that’s actually worth taking. All the rest such as whey protein is a scam.

Why not just get your protein from whole food sources?

Does it mix well with piss?

well if thats the case, why not just eat all red meat and get your creatine from whole food sources too?
get where I am going?
also have you ever tried eating 3+lbs of meat a day and still not reach your protein goal? thats what it takes to get big and its fricking hard. Much easier to drink a highly bioavailble source like wehy or casein.
Also do you even peri-workout bro?

Water retention

What about creatine for runners?

Yes and no. There is generally some water retention, but creatine is also associated with strength gains. Link to study:

The impact is that used along with strength training, it potentiates muscle growth. That will trigger muscle growth and weight gain that won't dissipate like water retention.

I came here to ask about creatine and boom, a well timed bump a couple days ago!
I was curious about it, just straight creatine, not a creatine based supplement with all the other shite.
Also as someone asked above, how will this affect my running? I'm lifting 3 days a week and running 2, usually 2-3 miles

Straight creatine is the best. There's really no difference other than price between creating monohydrate and the fancy stuff.
It really should not affect running. Some people say they cramp easier, but there's really never been confirmation of this large scale. That's the only thing.
I would recommend you have hydration taken care of, because if you have good hydration, creatine won't cramp you. If your hydration is iffy, maybe creatine makes a cramp easier (even this is sort of an outlier) but the base cause is still hydration.

Good stuff thanks
I'll probably load for a week
When is the best time to take it? I typically workout in the mornings

Creatine is probably the most studied workout supplement on the planet. Its a definite winner in my book. I've heard of people cycling creatine, but I don't think that's really necessary. A couple of things to keep in mind:
-Its not a wonder drug, but it will help with your training
-Some recommend a loading phase. If you plan on taking creatine long term, I don't believe that is really necessary.
-Buy the micronized creatine monohydrate. Don't fall for the fancy packaging promising YUGE GAINZZZ. Just plain monohydrate is fine
-If you're new to creatine, you may notice some stomach problems at first. That should go away, unless your one of the 10% of the population who just can't have creatine
-Some people mix it in water and try to choke it down. frick that shite. If you're not mixing it with something else to hide the taste, just dump 5g directly into your mouth, and chase it with water. It will go down much easier that way.
-Anytime you say you're taking creatine, someone will tell you "You know, if you stop taking creatine, all those gains will go away," like they're sharing some Earth-shattering information. Well, if you stop going to the gym, your gains will go away. If you stop eating right, your gains will go away. If you stop drinking water, you'll dehydrate and die. Get my drift?

I wouldn't worry about loading, as the latest post says, most studies don't support much benefit from loading.
I take it around the time of my workout. Honestly, it matters more that you get it consistently. If you do a pre or post workout meal and can get it consistently then, that is probably optimal. The major goal is to have available creatine during the process of muscle breakdown and repair during working out.

Its not a strong flavor. But something about drinking creatine in plain water makes me gag. It's probably a mixture of texture and the slightly off taste it gives the water. The taste is mild enough that if I mix it with protein powder or bcaas, I don't notice it. But the few times I've had to take it straight, I found that just pouring it directly into my mouth and chugging down some water worked best. Kind of like taking BC Powder.
