Doesn't matter. Just take it consistently every day. It stays in your system so you don't need to worry about workout timing.

In laymen's terms, draws water into the muscle allowing extra nutrients to be drawn in and better leverages, providing strength gains which allows for muscle to be built.

This is dumbed down as shite. Google it if you want a more scientific explanation. It's the most researched supplement on Earth and has never been shown to not produce size and strength and doesn't have any real side effects

Is there a big difference in taking creatine vs drinking something like a muscle milk after working out?

Muscle Milk is protein - the building blocks of muscle

Creatine does what the other guy said.

Protein is a dietary foundation. Creatine is a supplement for extra effect.

Muscle Milk will add to that general foundation, although Muscle Milk specifically has other stuff than protein.

Creatine has the specific effect listed above.

When I read up on it, everything pointed to after.

BTW, don't put it in a freshly opened beer.

Have y'all seen more success using a "loading phase" or just taking the same amount each day?

Most recommendations these days are to take 1-2 servings per day before or after workouts.

Loading phases and cycling on/ off creatine are older ideas that are typically not necessary.

Doesn't matter. The body isn't that sensitive. Same with protein and other things. Its a daily thing.

What is Creatine

Good vid on info about creatine.

5 grams

Most people recommend taking 5-10 grams periworkout. 5 grams is probably adequate for most people

Loading does work. You get to the same saturation eventually though. Just takes longer.

Doesn’t matter. Just take every day.

Protein however needs to be ingested within an hour post-workout from all the research I’ve read.

So my kid is starting wrestling season. Anyone have any information or experiences with cycling on/off as he attempts to make weight? If he needs to drop some pounds before a match, how many days should he stop the Creatine to see a decrease in water weight? (He generally shouldn’t have to cut as he’s wrestling pretty close to his regular weight, but I’m more curious than anything).

Edit: I should add that I’m aware of the risk of a water/dehydration cut and use of Creatine.
