Which do you prefer and why?

When i was a bit younger, traditional from a brute strength perspective.
But now, the stretch and stability I build from the negative on RDLs is very valuable. Also helps with perfection of form.

Deadlifts are my favorite lift but I despise romanian.

I do a set of Romanian for my warm up before conventional with just 135. I don’t know if it’s the right thing to do but it feels so good.

i like both for different reasons. Just like i prefer trap bar for younger lifters.
i would say in general if training like an athlete...trap bar
if just training to be strong...trap bar
if training for a meet....conventional or sumo
if training to just look good....romanian
if training for all around...trap bar + romanian
with a caveat...if using a form of LP or really any form of progression....im a huge proponent of once you stall and reset once or twice.....banging your head against the wall after that is a recipe for an injury and i beleive one must rotate to variants like i described in the Greyskull thread and as Louie describes in the westside book of methods. I beleive the westside model is the far end spectrum of extremely advanced lifters rotating every workout, where an advanced lifter may be able to go 3-4 workouts before needing to rotate and as you go down in advancement across the spectrum you will be able to go longer and longer before needing to rotate.

I basically do some form RDL sets in every workout, either for stretching or strength
so I guess RDL for me
I've been really focusing on load stretching recently and I'm really liking the results

I do the same thing, for what it's worth. It can't possibly be bad to get some blood to the posterior chain before a conventional DL set.
