Have a friend that takes this pre workout. He basically takes it on his way to the gym. Says it gives him a tingling sensation. Does anyone have any experience with it? If so, is it safe and what does it really do?

All pre workout is a waste of money imo. Just buy 100 caffeine pills for $5 and take the desired amount. You'll get 95% of the "benefit" of a pre-workout for a tenth of the price.

Pretty sure it’s Niacin that does that.

I think caffeine pills are a waste of money. Just man up and get your lift in.

OP...it is really just energy and endurance powder. The tingle is from beta alanine and is normal. It is your money. Do as you please.

As Blitzed said, beta-alanine is the tingle. Pre-workout is something some love, some don't. It's a matter of personal preference imo. I workout in the mornings, so I personally like it.

Personal tolerance has to be assessed to know how "safe" it is for you. In general, yes it's safe. There are as many pre's now as blades of grass in an average yard, but Buck Up is on of the better known varieties.

I find that pre helps me, especially with a moderately physical day job and workouts in the evening. On the other hand, some days I'm good to go without.

The tingles are likely "niacin flush" or, as another poster said, possibly the beta alanine. It can be an unpleasant side affect, but is largely harmless.

Thanks for the info. I'm worried about him because i don't think he is a healthy guy and he drinks a lot too. Myself, i don't care to feel that way. Some days are harder than others from a motivational standpoint so i get why people want an edge. It takes discipline to stick to a regimen.

Caffeine is effective. Citrulline malate is effective. Beta alanine makes you tingle and not much else.

The rest is bs. Maybe B12 helps if you're deficient. Alpha GPC is legit, but this product severely underdoses it.

Such a terrible formulation, beta alanine isn't even dosed right.

The citrulline and caffeine are effective and dosed correctly, although citrulline is low end.

Alpha GPC should be 1,200 mg, so you're literally 1/6 of a proper dose. Beta alanine, I don't love and it's underdosed. The rest is filler that has no effect.

By NoDoz, bulk Citrulline Malate and maybe Alpha GPC if you want it. I'm fairly sure it's much cheaper than this PWO and just as effective.

Maybe try something like these

Nutrabio Pre

Glaxon Specimen

Alpha Lion Superhuman

All those are clinically dosed, just depends on what you are looking for.

Priceplow does good reviews and breakdowns with explanations of what the ingredients are supposed to be doing.

I can tell you from personal experience that it is mainly the caffeine that is effective. I do not rely on pre-workouts and stimulants much. IMHO you have to be careful as you can build up a tolerance to them and then need more and more. I only use them a couple of times a week for my "big" days. By limiting my coffee/caffiene intake, it only takes a little pre for me to get the jolt/kick we all like for workouts.

I agree. Went through a phase for a bit when I had a two jobs day/night. Got up to 800-1000 mils a day but still felt like I was dragging arse. Cut myself way back again, and now the highest caffeine days are exercise days.

I have taken a "stim-free" pre that still helped with focus. But even those can have a tolerance built to them. That's a problem as old as humanity, tbh.

I think it's best to cycle off if preworkouts every few months, maybe take like 2 to 3 weeks off of the heavy stims and get back on.

There's supposedly some science out there that adrenal fatigue isn't real, but I feel like it is from personal experience. I have a job that requires me to be mentally attentive all day so I'm no stranger to 1g of caffeine in a day to push through. When I'm pushed at work and build up that tolerance, I'm just tired all day even with the caffeine (which I think is adrenal fatigue) so I try to cycle off of it for a few weeks at a time every now and then.
