Do each of the gyms operate on different price scales? I'm debating anytime or planet fitness for me and my son. Planet fitness is appealing for the no contract aspect and cheaper price but anytime is in a better location. I can't find any prices for anytime without going to the gym.

I pay $36/MO no contract at my Anytime. No idea what it cost elsewhere.

The way I understand it, this is correct. Not all gyms have the same equipment and some are nicer than each other and the price reflects that.

I was debating between planet fitness and world class fitness and ended up going with world class because it was closer to my work commute.

I paid $350 up front for the entire year which is quite a bit more than PF but I will get more use out of world class since it's 5 min from work.

In a way it's easier to stay committed to a more expensive gym because you want to get your money's worth.

It’s difficult to directly compare Anytime Fitness to Planet Fitness as they’re really intended to target two different audiences.

Planet Fitness is geared toward more cardio and novice lifters. That’s not to say that an experienced lifter can’t get a good workout at a Planet Fitness, just saying that the equipment will be geared more toward novice lifters. DB weights will generally be more limited and generally you won’t see any free weight barbells (only Smith machines).

Anytime Fitness is more of a full fledged gym. They will have the cardio equipment, but they’ll also have a wider selection of free weights. Their DB weights will generally go higher than PF and they’ll have barbells available in addition to smith machines. They’ll be much smaller than a full fledged “fitness club”, but they should have everything that even the most advanced lifter would need. The limited space and amount of equipment could leave you waiting if you go during peak hours, depending on the location.

ETA: Anytime Fitness member in NOLA - think I pay $42/month after tax. Think I had to sign up for a year.

I have Blue Cross health insurance, and signed up on the FitnessMyWay program. Puts me paying $27/month to the FitnessMyWay program, and not having a contract with Anytime Fitness.

You can negotiate with them. Paying for the year up front will cut costs.

I pay around $22 / month for snap.

Do you have to get setup at each gym you go to or does the pass transfer anywhere?

I'm interested in this program due to work travel and would be looking to use it at random gyms. I noticed that alot of the gyms on the list look to be 24 hour type facilities that typically require keycard entry

I’ve always paid 30 a month at the local Anytime Fitness, a few months ago a new owner took over and raised the price to 35 a month. After talking to the manager I paid for a year at the 30 a month rate.

I pay around $50 per month but I am month-to-month so it is higher than a contract rate but the Anytime locations I have near me are really worth it with good equipment/ not very crowded.

I'm not real sure, as I only go to Anytime, but I believe you have to get setup at each chain, but once you get your keycard for that chain you can visit any of their locations. If you want to go different ones, you may just have to pack separate keycards.
