Workouts are rendered worthless by soda consumption, scientists warn.

Drinking just two 12-ounce cans of pop per week can effectively erase the heart health gains made during exercise, according to a new study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.

Pharmacologists at the Université Laval in Quebec City analyzed health data from approximately 100,000 adults over 30 years to find that the damage done by sugar-sweetened beverages can’t be overcome with the average recommended workout quota — about 150 minutes every week, they said.

I can't remember the last time I had a regular Coke. This article made me crave one.

I have a Coke zero every couple of weeks but those are meh at best.

This is not what the studies says

Here is a link to the actual study

LINK

basically, there is an association with increase consumption of SSBs (sugar sweetened beverages) whether you exercise or not

but the hazard ratio (HR) for those that exercise and still consume SSB >2 per week is 1.15, while the HR for those that do not exercise is 1.47

and for reference the HR for those that do not consume SSBs and do not exercise is 1.34

so basically, you can consume >2 SSBs per week while exercises and still have 17% lower chance of heart disease than someone that doesn't consume SSBs and doesn't excercise

I have A&W Zero, Sprite/7up zero and Coke Zero at the house for when I want one about 1-2x per week.

The A&W Root Beer Zero is one of the best zero sugar drinks out there.

I'll have to try that one. Mt. Dew Zero is my go-to and tastes great.
