What is the one tip that you have relied on most over your playing history?
For me: “If you have to swing hard . . . then you have the wrong club in your hands.” —Jack Nicklaus

For when I miss a green.
“Putt if you can, chip if you can’t, pitch if you have to.”

“Smile” as I’m addressing the ball. With a hat tip to our Arkansas brothers.
But seriously. Good to relax

I don’t know if it’s a tip but I always say to play within yourself.
don’t hit shots you can only hit 1 out of 10. if you have to hit it absolutely perfect 100% to get it there maybe take a different club. plotting around the golf course makes it way easier to post good scores than to just attack everything all day.

Might be a game changer swing thought.

It’s positive mental thought process for me I learned from listening to Bob Rotella (golf is not a game of perfect) positive attitude. Expect to shoot your best round every round. When you play five great holes do not consider it great or that you are playing above your head. Consider it as playing within your means. I don’t always keep a positive attitude, but when I do my rounds are always better. It cut five strokes off my game a few years ago and brought me consistently into single digit when I always struggled to break 80 before. I rarely think about shooting in the 80s now even though my physical abilities are much less than they were 15 years ago. When I do I know it’s an outlier and positive attitude is literally the only thing I have to attribute that to.
For physical the best advice was not trying to fix my game mid round. That’s for the practice tee. Play the round the way I am hitting it that day and adjust my game plan around my swing rather than trying to adjust my swing mid round. Even the best players in the world don’t hit it great every day. They adjust mentally to the way they are hitting it that day.

Tips or fundamentals is kinda hard to differentiate.
As far as a tip, if you are playing out west or in a mountain region, the putt will break with the mountain (even if the damn mountain is 100 miles away).
A lot of the other "tips" I've learned along the way are really just fundamentals. Things like keep your spine angle, or accelerate through impact, or keep your hands low. Those things definitely work but I'd consider them more along the lines of fundamentals than tips.
So here's a bonus tip, learn the fundamentals!
