For me it is getting off the tee box. I just started playing again with about a year off from golf. If I could get off the tee box with any consistency I would probably lower my score by 8 strokes.

Chipping by far. However if I hit better approach shots I would not have to chip as much. I once read that the second shot takes more strokes off your game than anything for a high handicapper anyway

Putts from 4-8 feet. I just lose focus for whatever reason.

Driver, no question.

If I hit the driver well, I can play pretty well (depending on how much I’ve been playing). If not, watch out - it can get ugly quickly. It was that way even when I was really good and playing competitively.

If I’m not playing a lot, my pitching and chipping will get away from me, but that usually comes back quickly if I play a bit.

It use to be my strong suit, but I've completely lost my game off the tee. I need to schedule a lesson to get some pointers and some confidence back.

Off the tee. Can't do it. I hit my irons fairly well but the tee box kills me.

18 handicap hacker here. In order, I lose the most strokes on:

Approach (6.5)
Putting (6)
Chipping (4)
Driving (1.5)

Hitting irons solidly. I'm pretty straight off the tee, and I have a good short game. But since I don't play as much as I used to I find myself fighting the swipey high iron shot. The few times I go to the range to practice I basically hit low punch draws to focus on my left wrist staying solid through impact.

Today I shot 81.

10 bogeys, 7 pars and a birdie.

I had 30 putts, but I 3 putted 3 times.
I hit some good wedges, but I shanked a wedge.
I drove the ball decently, but I came over the top on a driver.
I hit several really nice fairway woods, but I topped a fairway wood.

It looks like I can struggle at any moment with any club in the bag. I did drink water consistently and I ate a payday candy bar like a boss.

The mental side of the game. There are parts of my round or individual shots where I just go braindead. Then I think, why did I do that? It didn’t even make sense to try that shot.

Driving consistency. Putting it in the short stuff makes the game so much easier haha.

I blow at least one hole per round. It's like I forgot how to hit a golf ball all of a sudden.

Long irons. For me, if the second shot requires a 4 or 5 iron, the hole can go very badly. But on shorter par 4’s where I can swing an 8 or 9, it’s usually good. Wish I could learn to hit the longer irons straight.

All of this. And just staying focused in general. Bring me some adderall for the nickel

Tee box is killer for me. I find myself using driver less and less because I can’t consistently put it in play.

Also my mental concentration on 14-18 tends to vanish. Need to find a way to stay in the game mentally
