What's everyone do for water on the course? Seems like a lot of courses are moving away from water jugs for liability reasons, Do the courses you typically play have water on the course?

Maybe I'm missing something, but what's the liability of having a water jug on the golf course?

Probably an idiot contaminating it somehow.

Some asshat putting something in the jug and golfers getting sick or worse from drinking it.

Water coolers were removed during Covid and have not been put back out. I take a small ice chest even though signs are clearly posted at the pro shop that personal coolers are not allowed.

As mentioned they were removed during covid at most courses. Last week when I played Belle Terre had one on each side. If the course has the boxes that hold the cooler that locks nobody usually will tamper with them.

Of all the covid bullshite, keeping water coolers off of a golf course in the summer was the most insane. Most of the courses I play have the coolers back out there. I can't think of any that kept them off. If a course wants to be lazy by not keeping water jugs, I don't feel sorry for people bringing more than just their own water to a course. I think there's a minimum level of expectations on a course, and having water every few holes on courses in the south is one of them.

Another reason I went private is because of the small things like this but I still bring a 32oz tumbler for every round, regardless of where I play

I avoid playing them.

That said, when visiting BSL, and playing The Bridges...I just have to suck it up, buy an extra box of balls, and hope I play somewhat decently.

The liability is accrued payroll. After covid they just never put them back out. Smart if you ask me for most golf courses. The players don't pay for luxury.

32oz Yeti with water
64oz thermos jug with water
Frozen water bottles (2)

I use the Tangerine Liquid IV flavor in my water.

Typically I buy a Dasani in the clubhouse and refill at every station.

Definitely need to move to a thermos and liquid iv. I’m out of gas coming down the stretch in the dead of summer.

Cold water and the hot sun create a good environment for bacteria to grow. Read some stories about a club in Arizona that was sued into bankruptcy after a golfer caught ecoli from a water jug.

Seems like the chances of getting sued by someone that had heat stroke would be more likely.

No law requiring water on a course. It’s sold in the clubhouses on the beverage carts and most courses allow you to bring your own. I know my club currently dosent have any of the jugs but they are looking at putting in water fountains or other more controlled solutions.

It seems like private clubs are the only courses that still keep a good number of water jugs throughout the course. My club has 7 water stations that I can think of off the top of my head. That's the way it should be in south LA in the summer.

What really chaps my arse is the Gulf Coast vacation courses that don't keep any coolers on course to force you to buy water bottles from the pro shop or cart girl. I get you are trying to maximize revenue but it really is inexcusable in AL, MS, FL in 100+ temps to have no water on your course that now runs $125 green fees.
