Who’s going to tame the beast that Oakmont appears to be……..
Drop your picks.
I’m liking the obvious - Scottie. But if I had to make a pick - going with Jon Rahm.

Feels like it will be Scottie or Bryson
Bryson’s downfall this year has been his iron play. He just played new irons this weekend & was better than his season avg.

He missed so many putts this weekend that he should’ve made

Course seems to set up perfectly for Scottie. Obviously he is the best iron player in the world by a wide margin and is great at course management.
Additionally, his very upright swing and the fact that he uses blades will help him get the ball out of the rough. Main concern would be the pulls with the driver he's dealt with at times throughout the year. +260 is a steep price but justified

So is it Scottie, Rory, Bryson, Rahm versus the field?
I’ll take the field.
Maybe we will see someone new win a major.
The rough is so deep.
I’d like to see Justin Rose win it.

I'm always pulling for Rory, but the way he has been hitting his driver since the Masters has me concerned.
I have a feeling someone like Rai, Morikawa, or Conners is gonna win this one.

I was all in on the Rory and Bryson train here until I started seeing some of the videos and comments on the way the course is playing. I think the rough might be just that punishing that you can't just bomb it and go find it (as in, not quite like Winged Foot in 2020).
Besides Scottie, someone like Sepp Straka or Shane Lowry kind of stands out as guys who could separate from the pack a bit.

I'm going with Collin Morikawa, he is a prior Major winner and he is 2nd in driving accuracy on PGA Tour this year at 72.87%.

I'd have a hard time picking against Scottie.
"The Field" may win, but I can't make a case for one guy. If it's not Scottie, it kind of feels wide open.
Bryson has been off on Sundays lately
Rory blasting it all over the place
Rahm streaky putter, but imploded at the PGA
Xander has been off all year
After that, where do you go?
Sepp Straka and Ben Griffin are the two hottest on tour (aside from Scheffler) right now.
Joaquin Niemann lighting up LIV, but can't seem to figure it out at Majors... Kind of trending though. Is this a good course fit?
Harris English T-12 at Augusta and backdoored a T-2 at the PGA.
Ludvig - long, straight, good putter. Can he get in the mix?
Shane Lowry - elite iron player and always seems to be lurking.
You can pick 10 other players and can make a reasonable case for, but it's still like hey you've still gotta beat Scottie Scheffler + these other guys.

Scottie
Will shoot E or better all 4 rounds and win with -5 or similar. He's like a metronome with consistency. He'll probably win by 4+ shots again.
Rest of the top 10 (in no particular order) will be Bryson, Xander, Rahm, Burns, Reed, Henley, Griffin, Aberg, Lowry.

Mickelson is gonna complete the slam this week. It will be the greatest sports story in the history of the world.

Driving accuracy and total driving will be paramount this week considering the rough. That's Scottie's game
