I'm sure this has been discussed in recent days but I haven't seen it. With the USGA announcing Pinehurst as the anchor site for the USGA and future opens, what courses would you like to see added to the list? I'll give my list to start.

Pinehurst no. 2
Bethpage Black
Pebble
Oakmont
Shinnecock
Winged Foot
The Country Club at Brookline

Any courses y'all would like to add to the list? What do y'all think?

3 courses in the NYC metropolitan area is too many.

Probably need another West Coast course in there - LACC, Riviera, Olympic, etc.

The Midwest needs a course on the rotation, too - Medinah, Olympia Fields, Oakland Hills, Whistling, etc.

I was thinking something like having some of these courses as the anchor sites and then adding in some other courses to have every once in a while. Like using the anchor sites for at least once a decade and then throwing in some others throughout the country to mix things up.

After looking at the list I would probably take Bethpage Black out of the anchor list. That course gets more play as a PGA Championship site.

Shinnecock
Merion
One of the Bandon courses
Oakmont
Ocean Course, Kiawah
Wolf Creek

ETA: I want them to play it all over the US. Not just outside New York half the time

I don't necessarily disagree with you but Pinehurst is a classic Open site. There's a reason the USGA chose Pinehurst to be the main anchor site for the USGA and the US Open. I don't know those reasons but I am OK with them selecting Pinehurst.

It's just me, but I do not like seeing/playing Majors on regular tour locales - Pebble, Torey Pines, etc.
There are enough great courses out there that can be explored without revisiting the regular tour sites. Show the pros a new challenge.
Wouldn't you love to see a Major at Pine Valley?

I wonder if the courses at Sand Valley Wisconsin have the teeth for an open.

I’m not a fan of Pebble because it’s a regular tour stop, but love west coast golf for watching late Sunday evening. Pacific Dunes would be worth trying. LaCC is getting a shot soon.

Southern Hills is stout but brutal temps for US open. That may be a better PGA in May site.

The Country Club not my favorite course to watch an open on but it’s got history. Don’t they make a composite course of the two golf courses there.

I asked the guys at Bandon and the common thought is that there are not enough hotels and infrastructure to host a major PGA event. Would love to see them play the courses there, but I don't think it will ever happen.

Of course, but that will never happen.

I'd like to see Cherry Hills or The Broadmoor get another Open, although these guys hit it far enough without the altitude benefit they'd get at both courses.

I played in the '96 Open at Oakland Hills and the Tour needs to ignore that place for another major. It's just nondescript and bland IMO. I think the Tour guys would tear it up.

I'm real interested to see how LACC does in 2023. If it holds up, that may be the West Coast anchor along with Pebble. Pebble just plays so different in February than it does in June that it's really 2 golf courses in one.

Tamahka did host a US Open qualifier several years ago. Narrow fairways, 4” rough, & brown greens made it pretty tough...
