What’s your go to course that seems to be the nicest to play on a hot day? Any tips to keep cool?

Florida Water is the best for me. And I noticed anything outside of New Orleans is always a bit better with a breeze since it’s above sea level vs. Below sea level although Audubon Park has enough shade to keep things pretty nice most of the time.

What courses are your favorites to play during the heat?

Water water water. If I don’t have to pee halfway through the nine I’m not drinking enough water.

For me it’s a towel to keep my arms, hands and face from being drenched in sweat. And an extra glove to swap to after the first 9. Water is a given.

I drink a good bit of water but I also drink even more before and while I play. I try to drink 2-3 bottles per nine. If I have some pickle juice handy I’ll take a chug before playing to help with cramping. I carry 2-3 hand towels. I cycle gloves (2-3). I coat sunscreen before each 9. And I think my skin tends to tolerate the sun better than most.

I also don’t drink alcohol on the course much but definitely not with temps where they are now.

In the Zachary area I will not play beaver creek during these months usually. I don’t play it much anyway but holes 10-16 or so seem to me to be surrounded with no real air movement ever. Plus I hate the back at beaver so there are multiple reasons.

I don't play before 5:30 this time of the year. It's just too damned hot for me. If I walk, I'm zapped after about 3 holes and I play like shite.

I play solo a lot and 5:30 is a good time to hit either Pelican Point or Beaver Creek. Rarely do I ever encounter golfers in front of me and in a cart I can play in about 2 hours and still have daylight left.

I use a rain glove during the summer.

I carry a squirt bottle of mio to add to a bottle of water.

I carry peanuts or a Payday candy bar.

It’s impossible to beat the heat.

I walk 99% of the time, but I ride a few rounds in the summer. Riding makes a big difference.

Drink water and power aid zero
Towels to dry off
Sunscreen applied at least twice a round. Sometimes more.
Always find shade to park in and/or wait in

I have played some really hot rounds this year with no issues.

Plenty of water and Florida water with a cooling towel.

Florida water and a portable Ryobi fan mounted on clips and then attached to cart post. The extended battery will last the whole round and it helps dry off the hands and gloves as well.

Yeah it doesn’t bother me much in the cart. I guess walking would be brutal. When you hit a bomb you get a nice breeze riding to your ball. Miller lites help.

I just bought a white Titleist wide brim hat and although it looks odd, it really helps with the heat. I also play a lot of 9 hole rounds.

What is Florida Water? Google comes up with some kind of cologne.

That’s the stuff. Mix it into ice water and keep your towel in it. Apply the towel to your face and neck. It’s a life saver.

It is called a cologne but you mix it with regular water and ice and it provides a very refreshing cooling liquid. You will be shocked at how well it helps deal with the heat.

All I need is Florida water and a rag to wear under my hat. Makes a world of difference.

First move is to wring out wet towel and out over your face and take in a few deep breaths. Next to the back of neck and then the back of your leg behind your knees. Surprisingly, the back of your leg feels great when you hit that spot!

Golf cart. Overcast day.
Less beer, more water, extra cigar.
Morning rounds.

My group intentionally plays in the heat of the afternoon because the course is almost empty. And we are in our 70s and 60s. Just drink some water and Gatorade.
