Rahm must be enjoying being in contention in a real tournament for the first time in 2 years.

lol not in contention anymore.

Frick all LIV golfers. I wish them all failure. Their greed killed the great game. Then they get all pissy when a spectator points it out. They all know the truth.

For about 30 minutes.

He’s looking like me out there right now.

It would be an insignificant increase in viewership at signature events and no increase at all at non sig events if LIV guys came back.

Bryson is the only guy the PGAT would love back. Losing Rahm had way less of an impact than originally thought.

Because he’s lost confidence in his short game, because of LIV or other reasons who knows.

If he had gone to LIV, continued to be one of the best players in the world, and won/competed in majors it would be a much bigger deal.

This is the first major I can think of since he went to LIV that he’s been a factor

I was a massive Rahm fan but he really sold out IMO. I felt like he was such a competitor and would never take the money. Really frustrating to see him leave and felt like he was / is just wasting talent at LIV. I’d still welcome him back and hope he returns.

Jim will argue the point, but it’s extremely hard to flip that competitive switch, and a guy like Rahm needs to be in the arena the pga tour provides.

Yea I mean he literally said this the first time they tried to poach him. He said he already had enough money and wanted to compete. Then he left

They all did. Took the money but want to play real competitive golf now? Lie in the bed you make. Sure it's made of gold

I’ve said it from the beginning, I don’t blame the guys on the downside of their career and the average tour pros that were struggling to make cuts for taking the money.

Dustin Johnson, Phil, Sergio, Bubba, even Koepka with his injuries, those guys make since. Even a guy like Harold Varner who was just an average tour pro, why not cash in the sure money?

But guys like Cam Johnson and Jon Rahm, just a terrible decision IMO

Did you watch the first three days? None of the “better talent” you referenced were leading. Rham, BDC, Rory, Scottie were all out of the top five. There’s plenty of talent even when the LIV guys are missing.
But to your point, Rham and Bryson are great entertainment and definitely add value. Of the two, I’d rather get DeChambeau back. He’s done an admirable job of making himself more relatable and trying to connect with the fans. Quite the transformation from his player persona before he left.

But I guarantee you I won’t miss them next week. The PGA has so many players who can step up, it’s laughable. That’s why LIV hasn’t had the intended impact. All that talent left and new talent stepped in. The void wasn’t as devastating as LIV thought it would be.

Like swagga, was a huge Rahm fan and it was good seeing him in the hunt. What I don’t understand about the LIV defectors is the life changing money excuse and yet many were already living among the 2%.

I just think the “hate to lose” personalities really benefit from top competition week in and week out. Or it could be the shorts/pants thing.

I’ve won hundreds of dollars of shop credit in net events over the last decade, so I know the crucible of pressure that they face.

I would also defect from my club in a New York minute if LIV gave me a thousand dollars.

I miss Bryson. Cool to see Rahm again. Don’t care about anyone else.

The argument is that it’s more entertaining with them. Isn’t that better for the fans that watch?

Unless you get paid by the PGA Tour, I don’t understand why anyone should care about viewership numbers

Because we live in the real world on planet earth. If the pga tour is having strong viewership they aren’t ever going to make a deal and give an inch of power to LIV

Sucks for the fans, but I guess tournaments outside of majors don’t really matter anyways. At least we get 4 entertaining tournaments a year
