I'm pretty sure I hit an iron off the tee.

It doesn't look THAT bad from the pic...

But yeah, you gotta pick your way around it. I always tee off with my 2i there. You gotta bomb a high cut about 310ish to even be able to see the green to reach it in 2.

I checked it out today. The first tree on the right is all of 60 ft high. Easily avoided and you have at least 25 yards between the two trees. Play the hole.

It's always a great designed par 5 when they take driver out of your hand.

You could play from the Gators.

I like the rest of the course, but quit going because of the greens

I'll post some pictures tomorrow of them. Plus some detail work we've been working on.

You're first good take in the history of the board, but you are dead on. Par 5s should be designed for risk/reward, not its a 3 shoter for everyone no matter what.

A status you've yet to reach but hey, keep your head up. Once you get that "your/you're" thing figured out, you'll be on your way!

#16 green

#8 green

Edging bunkers, so they look like actual bunkers. You can see the mound of grass outside the pot bunker.

There's plenty of room between and over the trees on #6. Pics from Bear and Eagle Tees.

frick 16 too

When atchafalaya greens are good the course is on of the best in the area. Always fun to play. Sadly the greens are 50/50. Pics of 2, 4, 5, 14, 17. Those are constanty fricked.

Those greens look like crap (grainy, bumpy and slow as hell), the bunker on 16 looks horrible and you should just bulldoze 6 and start over. You,my friend, have a very long way to go to become in your words "the best public course in LA".

Aren’t there 2 little dick arse pot bunkers behind that oak on the right?

I’ll be out there if the greens are good. Hard to leave Latour’s greens for what Atch has been having for years

In all fairness, the guy before me was checked out of the program his last year out here.

Aerified too late in the season, holes didn't heal well, didn't topdress with sufficient sand to fill holes and had a shite nutrition system.

These are all things that are basic agronomic principles.

I like a challenge. Come this summer, this place will be top notch.

You can ignore mailman.

Appreciate the posts and updates. I understand your desire to protect the current layout and those older trees. I still think it’s not something anyone would try unless you play the course regularly to know the line the take on a blind shot like that.

Baw you should have went to Atchafalaya

Only played there once a couple years ago but it was nice and a fun course. Definitely would like to go back

I just took over operations there. Give me about 3-6 months and it will be one of the best public courses in LA

Good luck my dude. I’m good friends with Brandon (#2 guy in the clubhouse under Ed) from talking to him I know y’all have yalls work cut out for y’all, but the place has a ton of potential.

I worked there for like 6 months my junior year of high school. Ask Ed or B about the kid with the cash register keys if you want a good laugh.

Will do!

We're 90 degrees with the exception of 2 holes.

Come out and get it in before the rain on Wednesday/Thursday!
