Yes. $55 on the weekend. Never again.

Sky park in Florence, AL

Sky Park was Agusta National compared to Chriswood in Athens.18th green at the club house where you enter looks great with water fronting it. But once on the course all greens were about 30x50' mounds that all sloped back to front scattered around a pasture. Not to mention its only a lil over 5k yds so several par 4's under 250. It's by far the worst course I have ever seen.

As for Sky Park it was great for what it was. A good place for beginners, hackers, and kids. I remember my dad taking me and my brother there as kids and letting us play the par 3 course before they closed it. I think every town needs one of those IMO. I guess Spring Creek is that here now, but I was once a teenage hacker and loved playing sky park with my buddies and raising hell on the carts.

Moved, so I haven’t played there in a lot of years. Was a member at both Arrowhead and Twin Pines.

Ever flip one? I did with my wife. Last time she ever went to the course with me.

No they were 4 wheeled by my time. Did blow one up one morning spinning tires on a hill covered in dew. Smoke rolled and it ran like crap the rest of the day

I grew up exactly a mile from there. As a pre teen/teenager in the late 90s my buddy's mom would drop us off in the morning and pick us up at closing. No telling how many rounds we would play in a day but it was a blast for us and kept us out of trouble. If you lived that close we either know each other or for sure know some of the same people. My old neighbor would spend all day in the club house most Saturdays/Sundays and the Catch 22 was always a huge deal for him, his brothers, and buddies.

I do not know if it is still open but Bayou Barriere was horrible the last time I was there several years ago.

Been closed for several years. Used to go there when my son was young, we could play all day for less than $50 total. He liked it because there was hardly any OB.

I grew up and still live next to Fashion Terrace, the old subdivision. Our land is now Fashion Plantation. I probably know your family, I'm in my early 60's now but learned to play at Fashion in the late 70's and was there as a member until around 1987 when I joined old Willowdale.

You 100% know my old neighbor. He was a member and without going into too much detail He's a Champagne that lives behind the old Hymels restaurant on St Charles Pl.

Got it. I know who you’re talking about. Had some real good times at Fashion before it went down. The land is being cleared now, hearing a subdivision going in.

Spring Valley is an absolute goat farm but you’re not going there to play real golf.

Fashion Golf Course in Hahnville, LA. Turtle back greens and 2 holes shared a fairway.

There it is. And I believe the name is Fashion Golf and Country Club.

Hole 4 and Oak Knoll. Just the one hole. For those that have never experienced it, it’s a blind 220 yd shot into a green with a 20 foot drop off on the rear into bushes. It’s blind because there is literally a ridge that runs across the middle of the hole. The best part is there is an inverted mirror that you have to look up thru to make sure the green is clear before you hit. No reference point, nothing to aim. Just hit and hope for the best.

Riverlands Country Club in LaPlace. Played in June 2024, absolutely worse crap I've ever played and they had the nerve to charge $45. All 4 of us said the same. Weeds and such growing on tee boxes, fairways & several of the greens had to be cut with one of the neighbors zero turns. The rough (like 1' off fairway) and grounds between tee boxes and fairways was so tall and uneven they probably used a neighbors 1982 snapper to cut.

PS had some of the best greens in the state when it was open. Not always, but pretty often. The rest of the course was ok but a lot of fun.

Hillsdale in Lumberton Mississippi. Played it many years ago. Couldn’t distinguish the rough, fairways or greens. It was like bush hogged cow pasture.

I grew up on Howell park so I know a goat ranch when I see one. ??

I found that course on google maps. You can actually get nice view from the road next to it. One of the par 3s has a green that looks like it is maybe 20' in diameter.

There was never a time Barriere was good. Ive played a ton of scramble tournaments out there though. Good times but an awful course. Its been closed for years.
