Is Paul Casey,s Valspar win anther example of a player seeing resurgence now that he is no longer required to play Nike golf balls?

Finau, Rory, Chappel, A Kim, Henly, Lovemark, Fleetwood, Koepka, Vega, F Molinari, Seung yul Noh are just some of tour pros who have seen big advances in their career success since Nike got out of the ball business a few years back.

How bad was that Nike ball?

The ball was fine, the irons were garbage

IMHO Nike irons were the best segment of their club business Far superior to their Drivers, wedges, putters or faiway metals.

We all know that manufacturers staff balls can be tweaked to a players preferences within the rules. Tiger liked a high spin ball off his irons and was willing to give up distance to get that. Duval wanted low spin off the driver

Now that Tiger is playing Bridgestone, his driving distance numbers are up dramatically. Coincidence?

Has come more into his own with experience, I don't know how much you can really put on equipment either way.

Henly

I'm, he had more success using the Nike stuff. Two wins in one season.

Rory

Has played poor for him since switching to TM.

You'll have to explain this one to me.

I can't really think of one guy that you could point to and say that changing from the Nike ball to something else has had a definite impact. Most of the guys you mentioned were playing Nike equipment in their early twenties and first couple of years on tour. I would say most of their increased production is from experience, bit switching balls.

With all that said, I do think most of the stuff out there is better than what Nike was putting out, but you're specific arguement isn't very strong, imo.

They did early on. It was unclear how long that went on. Nike made the worst of the premium balls. It's not surprising to see the players improve after the switch.

Doubtful considering Tiger Woods still plays the VR Pro irons and Patrick Reed went back to them after leaving Callaway.

The Vapor irons were shite though.

Edit: Tommy Fleetwood also still uses the VR Pro. The list goes on.

casey has always been a solid player with some bad off years here and there. a ball switch just isn't going to make you jump 20 spots in the owgr.

I’ll never understand why these guys don’t just play a Titleist. It’s the gold standard of golf balls and when your career is based off performance, why risk it with another brand? They may get a few more bucks from the contract, but scoring better will get them more money long term.

Before Nike got into the RZN technology, the balls were produced at the same Georgia facility that Bridgestone used to make their golf balls, so it's safe to assume that Bridgestone made Nike golf balls up to that point...Since Bridgestone owned the facility.

Srixon, Taylormade, and Callaway are making balls that perform as well, if not better in certain conditions, than the ProV1 at this point

I agree with this. Their drivers were garbage for sure. Not sure about the wedges and putters, never used them.

Agreed. RZN line was money.

Disagree. Tiger is still playing the VR blades. Also, a few others are playing the VR series and the Vapor blades this week.

OP, you could argue that Rory played better with Nike equipment b/c he's kinda sucked it up lately.
