The LIV Golf tournament planned for late June in New Orleans is off, according to a source familiar with the matter, ending weeks of speculation about the future of the event amid reports that the Saudi Arabian government is pulling its financial support from the league.

The league notified state officials on Friday that they want to “pivot” from the June 25-28 tournament, scheduled for City Park’s Bayou Oaks Golf Course, and potentially reschedule a smaller, exposition-style tournament this fall, according to the source, who was not authorized to speak publicly about the tournament's plans.

They've literally been spending months working on parts of the course, clubhouse, driving range, etc, pouring a decent amount of money into it to get it ready

Sucks

Hopefully they have some clauses in the contract/agreement so they can recoup some of those costs.

What have they done to the clubhouse? Looks the same as it's always looked to me.

State paid for the driving range & other improvements. I believe they also paid LIV a “hosting fee” which LIV is returning now

My understanding is its behind the scenes stuff for that, but I do not know the exact details

I pass by it every single day but haven't actually golfed there in a very long time

Not enough. If the plan was to host the tournament, but improvements were needed to have the course up to par; LIV needs to reimburse the State for their expenses.

LIV is repaying the hosting fee, but the state is still out about $2 million that they spent on renovations and improvements to the driving range and south course to get it all ready for the LIV event

I'm glad the range will be better, however my golf game has gone completely dormant due to this entire project. Bayou Oaks was the main place I practiced. Chateau in Kenner was my number 2 place, but the dicks running that joint made the range Private when Bayou Oaks closed their range. So, unless you go to NOLA East or Gretna, there is basically no where to hit range balls within a pretty large radius over here.

I'm actually going to frickin Baton Rouge today for dinner and my 1st range ball session of the year today.

At least the $2M was spent on something that I can actually use as opposed to the hundreds of millions spent on things that are of no benefit whatsoever.

I hear you. I live right down the street and have been missing the driving range. Hopefully they can open up sooner now since it doesn’t have to be immaculate for the pros in June.

1. I had no idea that LIV was scheduled to come to Louisiana.

2. How can you cancel/postpone a tournament that is only 2 months away. That's crazy to me.
