I laughed when someone described Louisiana as a graveyard for golf courses… I didn’t see it mentioned but after Katrina, Bedico Creek Golf Course was built on the Northshore and never opened !!!!!

I mentioned that the golf course at LSUA might be closed. It looks like it is from the highway. I haven’t been by the old clubhouse, but there is a lot of construction on what was the course.

Added. looks like it was technically named The Oakland Plantation Golf Course.

I also saw that Sugar Oaks in New Iberia is now closed. I do not have a confirmation on that.

I also mentioned this in another thread, but by my count there are 126 courses in LA. This includes 2 at Beau Chene & Bayou Oaks.

Seems like that's a low number. Where are you getting the count from? Not saying that's not true at all, just curious.

That one is on the list. Was named Pretty Acres but I guess everyone just called it Louis Prima.

Added. Not a lot of information about this one out there. Looks like it didn't last long. Built in 1997 but last things I see about it were in 2014.

Sure about this one? Website is still active, showing active on golfpass, google shows it's open today with a phone number. Can't find any news articles or posts about it closing.

Is Lakewood in Algiers back or did they build a subdivision on it?

Our list is up to 60 courses. I'm sure there are plenty more we're not coming up with.

According to google it's open and looks like you can book a tee time on golfnow, and golf pass. Has a google review from 3 months ago.

I thought that Palmetto CC was really a nice layout following the renovation and some hole changes by David Toms. He grew up playing that course as I recall.

This is correct, but I didn’t want to confuse people with Oakland Plantation Country Club in Plain Dealing. This course is still open, as I played there last week. Interesting layout of 15 holes. Play front nine, then 1-3 a second time then 13-18 are different than 4-9.

I am trying to play all of the courses in the state. So I put together a list. Using google to find courses around cities & then piecing it together with rural areas. Of the 126, I have Pelican Point Lakes listed as separate from Pelican Point, but I have Stonebridge (NOLA) as 1 course, so I guess you can say 125 or 127. I believe those are the only 27 holes facilities. Currently I have played 70 of the 126 & 11 closed courses.

At some point I will need help from people on this board to get on private courses (Beau Chene, Ellendale, Le Triomphe, Mansfield, Money Hill & Oakbourne). But right now I’m working on public & semi-private courses around the state.

I loved The Grove in Minden. Very nice and fun course built pretty much my the land owner who was in some type of construction business, possibly golf course construction.

Trails End? Yes it is and probably in better shape than it's ever been.

Covington is definitely still open, played it last weekend. Now the greens absolutely suck, which is a shame because it's a great course layout. But it's open.

I don't think that Mallard Cove in LC counts since they closed it to build another Mallard Cove...but I loved the old one.

After Katrina it was redone and looks nothing like the original Lakewood. It is open but from what I've been told it's in rough condition. It's a shame because last time I played there 4 or 5 years ago it was in good condition. The 17th hole is similar to 17 at Sawgrass. Had some unique wood carvings from old trees and a bunker shaped like the fireman's emblem.

I played in a tournament at Tamahka Trails this weekend and you have to pass LSU Alexandria (I'm assuming that's the campus) on the way. I remember from last year seeing what looked to be a small golf course. When I went by this year it looked closed. Didn't see any pins.

Edit: Google search tells me it's closed. The new apartments being built there are where part of the course was.
