Made an ace today playing in a fivesome

Weather was crappy.
Nobody at course.
Our 3 foursomes turned into a wolf fivesome.
Guy had picked the man before me who had hit a great shot to 7 feet just before I hit a seven iron into the hole from 142.
I realize that is not tour distance, but it was a great swing for me.
2019 PXG 0211 7 iron off of a tee.
Titelist Tour Soft golf ball.
It was good to be with 4 good friends that I play with frequently. All of them are better players than me, but I had the shot of the year.
Of course I made bogey on the next hole.

Where were you playing?
I have one ACE and I wish I could say it was a beautiful shot but it wasn't. Bladed a PW about 6 feet off the ground that went screaming to the flag 130 yds away at MACH 2. Crached into the pin and fell straighth down...3/4 backward rotation and it was in.

Im jealous man.
I played in college and have never made one. Its frustrating and mind boggling.
Congrats. Especially with 4 friends.... Im assuming drinks were on you after the round..

Yes, but I’m on call and so was another man so we decided to rain check the drinks for now.
The best player in our group is plus, and has not made one, but it will happen. I hit maybe one or two good shots on par 3s in a round. He usually hits all 4 greens on the par 3s and has maybe one or 2 within 10 feet or so.
I’ve seen him make tons of eagles.
I’ve made 2 this year including this hole in one.
Golf is hard, but golf is fun sometimes!

I was the shortest hitter in this group. No doubt.
My seven iron is 31 degrees. I notice a lot of sets with long shafts and stronger lofts.
95 gm steel shafts R flex for me.
I assume 142 is a stock gap wedge for you.
Many of my friends would have hit 9 iron or faded an 8 iron.
I’m glad I clubbed correctly for my swing. Would have been in cross bunker with an 8 iron.
