Rory’s comments about the easy way out are out of line imo when it comes to Phil.
Phil’s finished in the top 10 more times than Rory has even made a cut.
Dude grinded it for years.
Phil has competed in over three times as many PGA tournaments as Rory. Phil has averaged almost 22 tournaments a year for 30 years. Rory’s avg about 18.
Rory has made 2/3 of the money Phil made in 30 years in tour in 12 years.
A large part of that rise in purses and overall golf awareness was Phil.
Calling out Phil for taking a golden parachute is chicken shite.
Bryson or PReed. Maybe yeah. But not Phil.
Phil is an icon .. He has a recognizable logo and can do what he wants..but he also somewhat put a target on his back with that total cluster of a month talking about the outrageous greed of the PGA Tour and his jilted teenage girl schtick of "see I'll show the PGA Tour by going with these bad guys" ( paraphrasing of course).

Rory McIlroy says he understands why the 40- and 50-something crowd, led by Phil Mickelson, might be willing to take the money from the LIV Tour. He doesn’t understand why other players are going.
quote:
“I understand. Yes, because a lot of these guys are in their late 40s,” McIlroy said. “In Phil’s case, early 50s. Yeah, I think everyone in this room would say to themselves that their best days are behind them. That’s why I don’t understand for the guys that are a similar age to me going because I would like to believe that my best days are still ahead of me, and I think theirs are, too. So that’s where it feels like you’re taking the easy way out.”
Rory specifically said he understands why older guys do it. His “easy way out” comments specifically were directed at Bryson and P Reed

Very compelling argument. Nice job.

I also find it funny that Mickelson received big cheers and was loved by the crowds today during his practice round. According to the pathetic media, he and other defectors were going to be scorned and heckled on the course.

We can only hope!
I also watched a video from some guy from the New York Post that said if the players sued the PGA Tour saying they were wrongfully suspended, that the players would win. He thinks the PGA Tour will have to soften its stance there.
I don't know much about the legal aspect of all this, but if things go a little south for the PGA Tour I would be shocked if Jay Monahan keeps his job.

I would honestly be shocked if he still has a job 1 year from now.
In true PGA fashion, they will not fire him, but confit a bullshite story as to why he’s stepping down.
