Which is bullshite. If anything, golfers should get a much higher % because they alone create their value. In football, part of the value is created by the team (ie owner). Dak Prescott is made more valuable by being a Dallas Cowboy, for instance.

It's the "golf channel", not the "pga channel". Why can't they just talk about another golf tournament being played?

Because the golf channel has media rights deals in place with the PGA Tour. The Golf Channel is owned by NBA. NBC is a pretty damn big partner of the PGA Tour

What’s the deal with the teams? I just started watching and they showed what looked like a draft.

That number is purse only. Players get 55 - 60% of revenue when taking into account pension, PIP, FedEx, etc.

There is a team competition each week based off the top 2-3 individual scores. I think winning team (4 players) win a share of $3M.

Seems like the Stinger GC are the early favorites. 3 players in the top 4.

The team event is where the scoring gets even more exciting. Over the first two rounds, the best two stroke play scores will count for each team. For the third and final round, the best three scores will count, with the lowest overall team score after 54 holes being named the team winner.

And every PGA Tour player is more valuable because they play on the PGA Tour and not some pro tour in Asia. The only difference is golf is not a team sport, but the players are no more responsible for their own values than athletes in other sports. Lebron's value wasn't created by him being a Cleveland Cavalier. His value was being a phenom in the NBA.

Further, NFL/NBA players get shares of net revenues from two leagues who have revenues that dwarfs that of the PGA Tour. The PGA Tour has an expected 2022 gross revenue of around 1.5 billion. They already have around $850 million of that going to the players (roughly 57%) before the expenses of running the actual tour. The PGA is technically a non-profit. Sure, their execs have nice salaries (just like execs in every sports league), but it's not like the excess money, after expenses, is going into the owners' pockets as it does in other professional leagues. I'm sure there is something the tour could do but people like Phil would have you believe there's hundreds of millions of dollars they're intentionally not paying to the players that they could which just isn't the case. When you have a league commit over 2 billion dollars to funding the league without any network deals in place or any major sponsors or really anything to produce revenue outside ticket sales, then there is nothing the PGA Tour could do to match that. They're dealing with a leagued backed by an Investment Fund with almost a trillion dollars that's growing every day

Is there a money list of what players make for where they finish individually?

I haven't seen anything other than it's a prize purse of $20M, which pays $4M to the winner & $120K to 48th place.

I’m upset because the PGA is going to be dismantled by something that couldn’t be less genuine. Y’all would have a point if an organization put together a business model that was more fair to the players and looked out for them more than the PGA. But this is just some rich prick stealing your wife because he literally offered her the world.

For the PGA to be "dismantled" the LIVGolf will have to have serious legs. That takes time and the PGA will have to continue to make bad decisions. Something they seem more than capable of.

So far, I would have to say, for my viewing pleasure, that being different is not that bad of a business model.

Wow that’s better than the purse for a major. It’ll be interesting to see where this goes.

Ok, then what do you "believe" to be correct? Because those are the numbers when you add up all the tournament purses, PIP, Comcast top 10, etc.
