Jim Nance overdid the bullshite several times yesterday

Is it just me, or did he crown Rory and overdo the bullshite several times yesterday? Give me a break.
“There he is folks…used to get balls out of a machine…in which you had to buy a token….”
“Only had enough money for one token”
“Here we are again, walking the fairway. I’m sure he’s thinking about the token that only got him 30 balls. Had to hit every one of them like it was his last shot at the Masters”.
Just talk like a normal f’ing human being. Had to mute it after a while.

Yeah I actually like Jim but Jesus he was over the top yesterday. Kept trying to have his moment. I was talking to my wife while watching and kept repeating “Jesus Jim, just shut up”

Jim is the freaking man. You’re insane

It was an awkward story that ended oddly.

I thought CBS had a terrible week. I'm not a Rory guy so I ended up watching the last few holes on mute. It got to be too much. Nothing really against him and I'm glad he finally won a green jacket b/c no matter how big of a dbag he is, he is one of the greatest golfers ever to play.
Back to CBS, it was rough from Thursday when they weren't showing certain players, couldn't' track the ball with the still cam behind the greens, and there are plenty more examples of poor broadcasting. The worst was yesterday when they were basically only showing 2 players then shite hit the fan and they were scrambling to show more people just in case one of them won. Case in point was them not showing Reed and Connors, the next to last group, finish out on 1. they only showed their approaches. They had to tell us after the fact they both made bogey. All b/c they were too busy slurping Rory.
People tune in to see Augusta and the shots that course requires. yes the app allows you to see them all but from a broadcast standpoint I thought it was overall very poor. Props to Dottie though, she is great on the course.
More examples: we got to see Langer and Couples attempt to make the cut on Friday. It would have been cool to see other guys who were on the cut line play of the final holes as well. And then to only see some of Scottie's shots on the final round in inexcusable. Like on 2, he ends up punching out from way left and we have no clue how he got there. again, they were too busy playing the Rory angle.

Jim fricking sucks.
His scripted lines for each champion are well rehearsed and not spur of the moment.
Now go have a glass of shitty “The Calling” and stfu

Yes it was insufferable and the Masters theme music needs to go. They need to come up with something new.

I agree he over did the sappiness.

Be careful what you wish for when bitching about commentators… The bench is not deep in that industry.

Same thoughts. He pressed way too hard. Some over the top cheesy IMO

ESPN controlled the coverage on Thursday and Friday, not CBS. As for Reed, he was playing like shite to start his round. He was at -4 through hole 3, not even in contention at that point in the round. When he started to go on a run, they started showing more of his shots. Then he three putted from 4 feet on 13 and wasn't really in the tournament anymore. But they did show his hole out on 17 and then his approach and putts on 18.

Jim Nantz is the man.
I chuckled at him telling the token story a second time on the playoff hole. Idk how that would get under anyone's skin. It's his job to be a little dramatic. It was kind of a big moment. His call after it ended was pretty solid.

I like Nantz but he was pretty tiresome all week. It was a love affair.
The final hole was pretty comical. Did the biggest build up ever only to have Rory miss the 3 footer
Then did the same thing again in the playoffs. Was clearly rehearsed or he wouldn't have said the same story twice.
His commentary was probably the only complaint I had. That and the fact that Colt Knost was even allowed to be on a mic at the Masters. My god that voice.

Most public courses I frequent have a ball machine with either a CC or token to access. This doesn’t mean I’m poor and growing up in despair just hungry to hit a golf ball.

Was at Torrey Pines last year. Their range was a token system

I can’t remember a single shot of Bryson’s on Friday it was ridiculous you had to flip through the alt broadcast for the individual holes when he was charging

Nantz is terrible when there's a big storyline he's trying to "capture."
You're calling the biggest sporting events on earth, brother. The storyline is evident.

Remove The Masters from it, put some azaleas on the screen with lush green grass with a fairway like they do, and it looks/sounds like something that would be played on a loop at a nursing or funeral home. I just don't like it. Unpopular opinion but it is nothing more than an opinion.

just yesterday? Have you ever seen him interview Tiger Woods? Dude looks and sounds like hes about to fellate Woods. Its creepy AF.
I wish he'd just shut up and let the event unfold without the constant talking. Nance loves the sound of his own voice.
