We do play Wolf. But they want 2 strokes per hole each. So 2 out of every 4 holes they would pick each other and smoke us. The other 2 holes we would split the 2 of them. The best 2 golfers would never play as a team.

Let’s start here:

What is your handicap?
What is the other guy’s handicap?

So you only have to deal with this a few times a year.
Tell them they don't get a choice, it's golf.

2 shots a hole wouldn't even be fun to play

Why on earth would you get shots in wolf? It's already designed to account for different levels of skill.

Wolf already levels the playing field. No strokes.

How does wolf level the playing field? He said two of the players are really good and two are really bad...if the two really good players pair up on a hole, how is that fair if no strokes are given?

Easy, don't get into a money game with someone who is that much better than you and cry for an unrealistic amount of strokes or get better.

I'm with Chicken on this one...

I have been in a Wolf game where the bad golfer hit his best drive of the day and I skipped him because I knew the good golfer was still to hit.

I think you need to give a reasonable amount of strokes per side... 18 per side is too many unless you are single digit and they shoot in the 120's. If the skill gap is that far apart the group probably shouldn't gamble.

When are no strokes given? The best player is a 15-16. The second best golfer is a legit 20 handicap. I wouldn’t say they are REALLY good. The 2 worse get 18-20 strokes every time we play. That’s 9-10 per side. More than fair. Especially for Wolf where it is designed to even the playing field anyway.

Those 2 golfers need to man up, accept the strokes as fair, and stop being whiny bitches. I know they are reading and responding to this thread. Tried to explain to one that based on the handicap system, they would get around 2 strokes per hole against a scratch golfer or club pro. Not a 16 and 20.

This thread is aging like that Old Fashioned thread you started a few years back. You tried to take a position that drink was for really old people to prove a point but the majority of your readers loved them. Good times.

Sounds like they don’t want to get any better by owning up to the pressure of having to make critical shots on their own dime. Just accept they are losers, but can still be good friends in other aspects.

Guys like this are only worth scrambling with unfortunately.

They also get the chance to add really good player to their team.

Just make a rule where if the two really good ones are paired, they get a stroke added.

if they're asking for that in wolf then betting is just out the window IMO. The only thing you could do would be a set amount for putts made outside the length of the flag stick. Handicaps have their purpose for leveling the playing field, but when you're talking about giving 30-40 strokes then I think you're past being able to level the playing field

After thinking about this some more, I think you should go with this:

Give them two strokes on par 5's, one stroke on par 4's, and a half a stroke on par 3's.

If you name who “they” are, and not in general terms, be specific, I’ll consider it. Please use their TD.com screen names. Thanks
