If so, what is the best course you've played and what is on the bucket list?

Playing some mountain golf next week. Will be the first time I purposely work golf into a vacation.

Doing my golf groups first "trip" here soon at Horseshoe Bay, figured we'd stay close to home for the first trip.

We plan on doing Pinehurst, Kohler, Sand Valley, Bandon Dunes, Kiawah, Streamsong, TPC, Bandon, etc. All the big boys at some point.

Down the road we'll go to Scotland/Ireland.

We did Horseshoe Bay last August. We are heading to Scottsdale in 2 weeks. It's all we have talked about for the last two months. Our group started out going to one LSU road game a year once we were out of school. It has morphed into a buddy golf trip group. After watching all of the Tourist Sauce videos from NLU last month, I'd love to hit pretty much all of the places they have been. Maybe we can get to Ireland or Scotland by the time our kids are out of the house......oldest kid in the group is 4.

BTW: We enjoyed Horseshoe Bay last year. We did Ram Rock Friday, We were supposed to do Apple Rock Saturday morning and Slick Rock in the afternoon. Unfortunately, rain delayed our morning tee time so much that we only got 10 in at Apple. #10 was such a pretty hole, that I wish we didn't leave. I hear the back 9 at Apple is really nice. Sunday we played Ram Rock again.

Being raised by an avid golfer, every vacation, regardless of location, is a golf trip. This was an adjustment for my wife, who was raised by a non-golfer. Anytime we go somewhere, my first thought is where can we play when we get there, or how can a manipulate the drive to play a course in the way.

It has carried over into work trips, honestly. If I drive to Shreveport for a meeting, I already have a course or two in mind to play on the way home.

Nice, we're really looking forward to it. There are 8 of us so we've got quite a few games and some gambling going on and doing a "Rhyder Cup" style tournament.

Any other tips or things to do at Horseshoe Bay? How is the pool/hot tub in the evenings after golf?

We're getting there Thursday morning and playing an afternoon round, then 2 rounds Friday, and then 1 round Saturday if we're tired or 2 rounds if everyone feels up to it. Also going to hit up the putting course for some evening boozing/gambling/putting.

Just got back from Big Cedar Lodge. We played Payne’s valley, ozark national and Buffalo ridge. Constant 15 mph winds and gusts to 30’s made for rough days but courses were in great shape with really cool layouts.

Fortunate to have a very understanding spouse. (no pics).
We usually combine our vacations with golf. Everywhere we travel, a golf course is near.
Trip to Scotland - St. Andrews and others (her idea!)
Trip to Maine - Sunday River and others
Trip to Virginia - Golden Horseshoe and Kingsmill
Trip to Georgia - Big Canoe, Elijay, others
Honeymoon - Princeville Makai Course in Kauai

2 huge buddy trips, both to Bandon Dunes.

Make the drive to Tempest next time you have to be in Shreveport. Beautiful course.

I probably can't give the best advice here. We got in right before our tee time Friday. Then we went to the restaurant and bar at the resort for the night. The pool was set up for reservation only due to Covid. So, the next day, we couldn't really go to the pool at a convenient time. So, our morning was spent at Apple Rock waiting out the rain, 10 holes, then back to the hotel to change, then head out to Slick. We found some fish fry restaurant for dinner that was fine. By the time we got back to the room, we were pretty beat. We played at 7:30 the next morning then headed back to Houston.

The best "other" thing we did was stop at the Oasis outside of Austin on the way back. Good food and drink, and an incredible view of the river. Of course, that's quite a ways from Horseshoe Bay.

Get a pie in town from Bluebonnet Cafe
This is really cool in town: LINK

The golf is really good at Horseshoe Bay and the service is fine. There is a huge putt putt course on property now, so check that out.

There are a couple of pools, they are alright! Don't expect anything spectacular but they are certainly ok.

If you want to play a really fun track just 15 mins away and a muni its called Delaware Springs. About $50 on the weekend and as good of a muni as you'll find. Really fun place.

Bucket List is to play at least one round in every state and it has to be highly rated... not necessarily one of the big names. Currently on a lower Plains golf/sightseeing trip with wife (no pics).
Played MO, IA, NE. Have KS and OK to go.
Recommend Quarry Oaks near Omaha and Bent Tree in Council Bluffs. Played both in chilly, windy conditions before the roughs got REAL thick and deep.
After this trip, will have played 35 states, including HI and AK.
Wife likes to ride and photograph golf course while I smack that white pill around.

I used to once a year, but the guys I would go with have families now and can’t justify it. Scottsdale was prob the best trip.

So far, The Ocean Course on Kiawah. There's a few on the bucket list - the normal courses.

Haven't taken a golf vacation but golf while on vacation. Possibly a trip to Monterrey, CA coming up. Obvi Pebble but I don't feel like I am at that caliber playing wise. Any other recs for courses in that area? Would like to play Harding Park in San Fran if that fits in the schedule.

This will be my 3rd season playing but I probably play 50 rounds a year now. Starting to put together a pretty solid list.

Played Torrey Pines last year
Just played Omni Grove in Asheville
Heading to Capital Hill on the RJT end of the month
Kelly Plantation in Destin
Playing Old Toccoa, Sweetens and Macklemore in June

Friend is a member out at Moonlight Basin in Big Sky, looking to play that in August this year as well.

Pinehurst will be a goal next year along with some better courses in Florida.
