How do you control temper?

Golf is frustrating sometimes.
How do you move on or accept a bad shot?
I’m struggling to move on sometimes.

I need you to sit down before you read the following:
You are not on tour, and you never will be, ever.
Once you accept this, you will realize that the bad shot you just hit is just a bad shot. When you leave, your whole life will still be the same, and the round was just for fun and doesn’t matter in the grand scheme of things.

Just take it out on your wife when you get home

Very true.
Still I would like to improve at my level.
Consistency is the struggle.
I guess the best is just not very often.
I just want to get rid of the truly awful shot.

It’s boring but you need to know where to miss your shot. Pin left, water left. Hit the shot out right you pull it your safe you push it your safe.
Eliminating big numbers makes you keep your cool

So do I but getting angry doesn’t help. It makes you lose focus. When you hit a bad shot, immediately think about what you did wrong. Then, correct it.
Trust me, I’m not a zen master out there, but that’s what I’m trying to do. I don’t want to be that guy cursing and throwing clubs in the course. I’ve been him too many times.

The easier, and sooner it is to accept that you aren't very good, the easier it will be to accept a bad shot.
Even tour players score into the 80's, they hit bad shots also...

Quit keeping score helped me. A few rounds just play match play vs par, bogie or whatever you want to beat. My goal is normally bogie golf so I win the hole with par or better.
I’m not very serious golfer so this works for me. If I’m keeping score I’ll quit caring when I know I can’t break 90 which is about half of my rounds.

No disrespect, but sometime it’s a maturity thing IMO
Not saying I’ve never done it, but when you lose your temper, the rest of the day now becomes about you being mad and trying to overcome that instead of concentrating on playing. Also - makes it REALLY uncomfortable for the person/group you might be playing with

By realizing that even the pros, who play golf for a living, hit bad shots too.

I've never enjoyed a round where one of the guys in the group was that^^^ guy. Then one day (this was years back) I realized that I was being that guy. Told my buds I apologized, I'll never be that guy again and I'm gonna fix whatever I'm doing wrong before we finish the round (had 12 holes left).
It took some tinkering but by the end of the back 9, I had 5 pars in a row. I've never been that guy again. It's no fun. For anyone.

i think it's ok to let off some steam at yourself ... if you're riding with someone, stand there and stare in disbelief and curse at yourself a little ... seriously ... get it out ... you don't have to be a pro to get upset at yourself over a bad shot ... if that's the argument, then we don't need to try to buy the best equipment or get a fitting or practice ... cause we'll, you know, never be a pro ... there's a way to let off some steam without making a public spectacle or it or yourself ...

I usually control it by going 6 over on the next 4 holes and completely ruining my round.

Know you’re not out there making a living. Laugh at yourself when you do something stupid.
Treat every hole as it’s own challenge. Don’t let a shot on one hole (good or bad) affect another hole.

Tiger Woods in his prime said he may only hit 4-5 perfect shots a tournament. Think about that, the best of all time only hit 4-5 perfect golf shots out of around 270 shots over a weekend.
You are going to hit bad shots, minimize your big numbers and improve your short game and it will get easier.

No money involved or not enough to get frustrated about. I'll never be a pro, so I take my golf game as entertainment.
