Finally broke into the 70’s for the first time with a 78 today. Guess I’m gonna quit my job and pursue golf full time now

I’ve done it once, back in college, when I shot 79 at Santa Maria. I’ve shot 80-81 a ton of times but never could put it together to hit the 70s.

Now I’m lucky to break 90. Growing up and having responsibilities sucks for your golf game.

honestly I shot a 42 on the front 9, my drives were killing me, so I didnt even really keep up with my score on the back 9. Just writing down the score. I know I was playing very well on the back 9 but it didn't hit me that i was shooting even par lol.

White belt rules are steadfast. It is not determined by the score you shoot, but by the size of your waist-line added to you age.

age + waist < 50 = white belt acceptable
age + waist > 51 = white belt douchey

Uhhhhh. Most grown men are going to have a waist in the 30-36 range.
So, only 14-20 year olds can wear white belts?

Awesome! Welcome to the club!

There are a few special achievements in golf.
Breaking 100, breaking 90, breaking 80, breaking par, and a Hole in one.
And it does feel really, really good when you hit one of those milestones.

There are a few other fun ones, more of individual achievements:
Birdie, Eagle, 300 yard drive, mid-handicap, single-digit handicap, scratch golfer, playing in the TDGB golf tourney.
Just keep playing and practicing. and having fun!

Congrats. The better you get at golf, the more frustrating it can be, especially if you're actively trying to get better.

So hard shaving those last few strokes off your game. Leaves very little room for error. And I make lots of errors..

Yeah even after finally breaking 80, I immediately started to critique my front 9 and what could of been lol.

You don't even have to put in a 2 weeks notice with those numbers. Just show boss man the scorecard. Congrats though

Congrats, man.

There is a positive and a negative because of this:

1. It gets a lot harder to shave marginal strokes down to par from here on out. The hours you have to put in vs. the shot you get closer to par goes up exponentially as your handicap gets lower and you get closer to par.

2. You've broken a big mental barrier. You'll probably have rounds where you either go out horribly (say, 44 or 45) but will still be able to get it together midway through the round and stitch together something hot on the back (36 or 37) and vice versa.

I’d say it’s questionable even for that age.

I've broke 80 twice in 15 years. If you are playing the ball down and taking a true score it's a hell of an accomplishment for the weekend warrior type like myself. Cheers
