Grip size - did you get fitted or just experiment on your own

I started playing jumbo grips about a year ago partly because I bought into the hype and partly because they felt good - now i've gotten use to them(ish).
Definitely my comfort zone, but I might actually be doing myself a disservice in having a miniscule amount of trouble closing the club face. I am well aware that my swing has flaws, but just like the rest of you, I'm trying to maximize the variables that I can control a bit.
Anybody else do something similar? Where did yall land on grips and why?

I started using midsize grips a few years ago because I've always had problems with hooks and thought maybe bigger grips could help with that issue. I dont know if they actually made much a difference with when it comes to hitting hooks but I've got used to bigger grips now so I've stuck with them.

I have some arthritis in fingers. Bigger grips seem to help.

I changed to a mid size grip as I got older and my hands were sore the next day after a round. The larger grips helped with that. I didn’t know, at the time, about the face rotation issue with increased grip size but I do now and am reassessing things as I have been leaving my irons right quite a bit.
That being said, I saw a video short from some PGA Pro on grip sizing and he said your fingers should go around the grip and just touch the palm/heel of the hand. If there’s a big gap, too big. If your fingers are under your palm (overlapping), then the grip is too small. Seemed a reasonable approach to things.

When you start thinking a fitting is needed for grips or a putter then you’re in your head too much. Just play golf.

There are some printouts that you can use to get an idea.
That’s how I landed on mid size and I definitely am getting less wrist in the swing.

I’ve tried a few different sizes over the years but I can’t do anything but standards. I tend to leave the face open with anything midsize

I moved up to the new mid-size SuoerStroke grips and I really like them.

Theoretically the tip of your ring and middle finger should barely touch the meat of your palm when you grip it. But grip is all about feel. *on you lead hand*.
Just be careful, changing grips from one extreme to the other will affect how your club feels and plays.

Golf pride has a size chart on their website. Gives you measurements to take to see which is right for you.
I am exactly the low number measurement for midsize and my last iron fitting the fitter said go with midsize. I haven't really noticed a difference except my wedges around the green feel more comfortable. Driver took a minute to get used to with the bigger grips because I've used standard for 20 years.

The general consensus here is getting fitted for every club in the bag.. Why would that not include a putter ?? And if you’re getting fitted for clubs why not fit for proper grips to insured proper hand placement?
