Looking for recommendations for the best places to play Golf on game weekends in Baton Rouge. I’ll be a single most times. Thanks in advance.

On another note-Turn your hat around and get ready - It’s going to be a FUN fall!

I'd go hit up the golf board, but Santa Maria, Beaver Creek, and The Bluffs are some of the nicer courses. The LSU course has actually been playing really well the last year or two as well.

Absolutely not right now. The place has taken a nose dive in the past 5 years. Ownership and money problems. It's not worth the drive out there and the cost to play whatsoever like it used to be. If you go that direction you might as well stop at Beaver Creek. Santa Maria is in pretty good shape now and so is LSU by their standards.

The Bluffs

You haven't been there lately. I played in a tournament there on Friday and they've lost just about every green. Bunkers are terrible and overall condition of the course is bad.

Money must be dwindling because they can't keep it up properly.

this is true. I was there about 2 years ago. Hadn't heard anything about it since then.

I know I’ll be down for every home game to watch Avery play. Last year being our first we really didn’t know how or what to do. Now I think I could get 9 or 18 in on a Saturday am before a night game.

Most courses will be tough to get on as a single Saturday morning on game day. Ud have to find a group. I’d be happy to accommodate you as best as I can at The Island. We are 15-20 minutes from LSU.

Hey champ. I’m thinking of playing the islands tomorrow. Can I call for a tee time in the morning? Noon-ish probably works best.
Want to play a round with me?

I’ll be there. Give me a call. Should be open around that time. Wish I could play but have to get back home by 4.

Copper Mill does not get too much traffic on it these days. I play there on Sundays now as a single around midmorning. Not sure how Saturdays are though

I've played Copper Mill the past couple weekends at 7:30AM on Saturday and Sunday. There's a group of about twelve that the pro shop refers to as The Rat Pack that tee off around 7:15 or so, but they all move pretty quickly.

Our group of two finished each day right at 11AM

Copper Mill has not been crowded on a game days in the past. The drive to campus from there is easy too.

I concur and would add the Island to this list.

LSU is best as a single mid morning during the week. No one respects the rules of golf out there so good luck playing thru during busier hours

Copper Mill is in really good shape right now. There's a few greens that had bad spots and they've filled them in.

My only complaint is several of the larger bunkers are completely unkept. All things considered though, it's worth the $40 weekend rate
