Besides Squire, where can I play tomorrow afternoon? Thinking of heading to Arcadia.

That’s about it. Jonesboro has a good 9 hole course.

Call Calvert Crossing & see if you can get on. It’s private & is a part of Troon Golf (I believe). Worst thing they can say is no.

Trail’s End is a fun tract, I’m not sure of current conditions. I played in Jonesboro a couple of months ago, I was disappointed. I had heard good things about it & it was just not that great.

If you have the time, go to Mystic Creek in El Dorado. Worth the hour drive. Golf Now has a couple of $79 tee times for tomorrow.

I kind of like the Farmerville (D'Arbonne CC) layout. Ok conditioning for this area. I put Jonesboro, Farmerville, and Trails End at about the same level, although TE has 18 holes. I played a"courtesy" ($75) round at Calvert after I moved to Ruston last year, thinking about joining it, but i like to walk and no way I'm walking that course again-i doubt they'll let u play unless you're evaluating it. Played Homer decades ago, haven't since moving back here, but i can't imagine it's much of an upgrade from back then. Bernice not worth the money.

Minden has Pine Hills. 9 hole x2. Lots of topography and a fun course to play. Easy to walk on unless there is a tournament.

Try Calvert again . . . recent change in ownership and membership dues. You may be able to get another round as a potential member. They are making some positive changes. A few greens have some areas that they are working.

Ask for Don or Jake.

What’s your handicap and do you know how to behave at a country club?

I can get you on at Squire or Bayou Desiard

It’s been a “country club” that you could play even if not a member for many years. I think they may have some priority but it’s not like there is ever a wait or problem getting on. Great small course.

Most difficult golf course i have ever played was Mystic. I would like to go back and see if its as difficult as the first time I played it.Tee to green was the issue here.

Squire Creek where I played 2 weeks ago is not tee to green difficult for me. It was putting. My God its so hard to 2 putt. If your on the wrong side of the green you are screwed. We played one tee box up from back. After 11 holes when rain came I was 6 over and it was all putting.

Explanation of how difficult SQ greens are. They put every hole on the top of a ridge or close to a runoff. If you have to go up then down to hole. Its very slow up and if you hit it hard enough to get up the down slope runs out 10 ft. But its perfect in everyday you can imagine.

I’m playing at a 10 and a member of a country club. I played squire forever ago but would love to go play it again sometime with my dad. Any chance you would help me get on? I would be glad to reciprocate at my club if you ever wanted.

I like Mystic better than Squire….if I lived in the Ruston area, Mystic would be my course.

I miss RCC and the Tech golf course.

If you are a member of a different course you can play D’arbonne, it’s a nice course.

Or that was the rule years back, we would just make something up and they never questioned it.
