Gonna be there next week for business and want to play somewhere. Saw Frenchmans Bend and Bayou DeSiard on google maps. Anywhere else within 1/2 hour or so in the area to check out. TIA Just saw Calvert Crossing also.

I'm playing in a tournament at Frenchmans Sunday and can report back Monday. Regardless of conditions it's pretty mid, but still fun and easy.
Calvert changed their name to The Hills Golf Club at Calvert. I think most people probably like it better than Frenchmans.
Never played Bayou DeSiard.

Must play with a member at Calvert and Desiard. Frenchmans is fun and course that you can score well on if you keep it in the fairway. Black Bear in Delhi is also a fun course to play

Echoing what's already been said - Frenchmans or Black Bear (Delhi) is going to be best bet without knowing a member. Slim pickins around here...
Chennault also exists if you just want a cheap-ish round.

Haven't played Black Bear this season so can't speak to it, but it's consistently good every time I've played. Frenchmans was in the worst part of Ouachita parish that had the ice storm back in late January, so it took a little longer to find it's footing, but player there a couple weeks ago and it was solid.

Black Bear is your best bet within half hour or so of Monroe. I’ve played several of the Monroe courses including Bayou Desiard and none compare to Black Bear.

Frenchman’s is in great shape. I’ve heard Chennault is in decent shape. Only thing I know about Black Bear is they don’t maintain the fairway bunkers so good luck with that.
I say all this assuming we aren’t comparing these courses to Augusta National.
Bayou DeSiard is damn near perfect. Black Bear never was and never will be close to Bayou DeSiard.

Black Bear was rated #1 in Louisiana multiple years before they decided it cost too much to maintain the bunkers. It's by far the best option without knowing a member.
I'll also say go to Back 9. It's so freaking muggy that playing inside doesn't sound like a bad way to spend a few hours.

I would probably play Black Bear. It’s a legit good course. The best public course up there. Not even remotely in the same league as BDCC but that is strictly because of upkeep. Even with sub par maintenance it is better than your next best option which is Frenchman’s. Then there is Chennault. It’s a borderline goat ranch to somewhat ok course depending on how often the city decides to mow it. It’s ok though. Got some interesting holes. Chennault is like a moped. Fun to ride, just don’t want to be caught on one.

Jonesboro is an underrated course that no one ever talks about. Darbonne as well, though 9 holes.

D'Arbonne was a fun little mixup, and not a bad round at all...but it's under the quality of all other courses mentioned so far. I took about 5 minutes a hole to find a spot in the tee box that wasn't too hard to take a tee....

Played Frenchman this afternoon, hotter than central La. Flat course with similar flat green with little slope. Nice layout and in good shape overall I thought. Noticed a lot of space between cart paths and greens. One trek to the hole was 60 yards one way. Oof. Worked on me and my bad knees and planter facius I have been dealing with. Threw in the towel after 12.

Get a little worked up every time I drive by it but not at all surprised. Seems like it is just a barren waste land now. Kind of surprised the city hasn't dumped Muny as well. That course can't get 20 rounds a day.

I always drive past Caldwell CC on 165 when I'm headed south. Looks like a 9 hole course but in decent shape (?). Know anything about it? I've thought about getting in 9 over there one day.
